Tacoma inventory spreadsheet

It's kind of my ad-hoc way to keep track of which cars are available and which aren't according to toyota.com. "sold_at" can mean 2 things. 1, the car is no longer available according to toyota.com. 2, the car could have been transferred to another dealer.

 

Thanks for the reply. The spreadsheet doesn't match any of my nearby dealer's VINs , as you had mentioned may be the case. Not your issue - theirs. E.g. the main Toyota site does not match some other dealers that I looked up. I think some dealers are not updating their own websites on a timely manner. Oh well, still very useful info!! Yup. I've found that to be true for my area as well. I called my local dealer asking about a vehicle and they had no idea about the VIN. Then they checked their deliveries and it was set to be delivered that week.

From my research each dealer is responsible for setting up their own website. I initially tried to get dealer inventory by going to each dealers site and pulling the data. But it was impossible. So I went with toyota.com instead, with all the caveats and issues we've discovered along the way.

 

I have noticed that some dealers will use the corporate site, but it seems that most use their own version to differentiate.

Still, with the inaccuracies and all of that, you tool is just so much more effective. We've made our lives so overly complex.

 

Would you mind sharing your method? We are currently trying to purchase a 4runner and am running into stale dealer site data...

This probably qualifies as hearsay since my "sheet" is lacking a lot of details yours has, but I got this allocation list from a dealer last week.

I ordered mine from this list (scratched off) so can confirm some if not all are currently not promised to anyone. Picking it up middle of May.

 

This is incredible. I'm actually thinking about getting a Tundra soon, is there any way this can be done on Tundras?

 

Thank you so much for putting this together. Could you share how/where you're finding the VIN and dealer info? It doesn't appear in the website page as near as I can tell. I need the ability to stalk individual VIN's daily. Inventory is moving too fast here right now for weekly updates to be useful.

I'd love to see a current update. Mine's suppose to have been built 2021-04-27.

 

i can't find any (more or less randomly selected) truck listed in the spread sheet on any indicated dealer website. i realize the dealer websites might be routinely lagging in updates, but i'd have thought there'd be some overlap or correlation.

 

Did you use the filter for the “sold at” tab? This shows all new and sold but it has been pretty spot on. A lot are already sold and marked as so in that tab.

 

yeah, i deselected ones with sell dates. within those, i tried a few at either end of the creation dates. must have followed at least a dozen listings to the indicated dealer site and never got a hit.

just scratching my head over here, but i guess others are finding correlations.

 

I would wait and see if he updates it today or tomorrow and then take a look. I’m only looking for a Lunar Rock and in Texas and so far those are pretty scarce. The ones that do come in are usually already for a customer. There have been a few one offs but those are usually showing sold on the following weeks update. Hope you can find what your looking for but right now it’s just hectic. I went and put a deposit on one but with the way it’s been with production and lots being sold out it may be a while. Have you gone into or contacted a dealer to try and locate one for you?

 

i started looking over a year ago, visited local dealers, put out quite a few emails. but that was when prices really started to spike so i've left it alone for a while, dipping back in now and again to take the temperature. seems like supply is picking up again, as is my work so i'm looking harder again.

i've also refined what i'm looking for quite a bit and the dclb part narrows choices a lot. when i first started looking, Sports were going for what SR5's are now.

 

I hear you. This past week I’ve seen “issues” with the list. Before that it was VERY good for my area (MA/NH). I’m waiting for validation with the next update. He explained in a few posts about the dealers managing their own sites, not Toyota. This most likely is the explanation. I have same issues backwards, local dealer showing truck w VIN not on the list.

you can also google toyota owner spec. Brings you to Toyota’s site to run the VIN. It will tell you if sold and a date. As well as all the specifics.
