I wonder how difficult it would be to fit a modified tundra rack and add front steering tabs to the spindles while making sure the bumpsteer isn't an issue. Or just use a steering box.

Not really LT but probably the best area to ask. How much negative is too much? Cycling my Dakars and I'm going neg pretty early into the travel. Plenty of room for more bump before I hit metal to metal. Also running a .5" longer than stock shackle out of a 1st gen Tundra.

I'd like to get more bump travel out of it but... o_O

I was told from Tim at DMZ that once the leaf is “flat” you can go 2” higher on the axle into negative arch. He said you can run a setup like that all day every day and not have premature issues with the leafs. Which coincidentally is right about where his kit bumps the axle at the frame. Kinda why I don’t want to notch the frame for more uptravel even though I could probably get away with another inch or so with how little I drive the truck.

@desertjunkie760 I'd probably not bump much higher than that. Looking back at pics of my new leaf revamp you can see I’m barely going negative. You’re already way more negative than I am. Just go sua or links and be happy lol

yeah, Im trying to find options. I didn’t want to spend a ton of time on the rear but I also want to make it so I’m happy with the rear for a couple more years if possible.

was thinking of trying the 4.9” shackles that @Supra4x4 has for sale but not sure if that’s a good solution. My rear ride height has always been too high so I wouldn’t be upset with dropping it a bit.

I see you cycled with two leaves. I was wondering if that was contributing to my strange angles. Might throw a second leaf in today and try again

Yeah I didn’t give it too much thought, I knew it would still be soft enough with 2 in there, and it also matched the length of the wood block too lol

Im also wondering if the short length of the Dakars is contributing to my issue. I can’t really find lengths to compare but I’ve heard that Dakars run shorter than other packs.

i run a similar setup to what you having going on except im using a 4.5" shacke with my hammer hangers and ive got around 5.5" of up travel with a 1/2' left in the shock for bump pad wear, around the same negative arch as your showing, theres pictures on my insta @thatgoldentaco

yea idk, plenty of fab shops will do anything for the right price. Either the money ain't there or he's doing somethin really wrong if he can't make that work :notsure: Told him in another thread he should try to do it himself at this point, hes got the vision. The suspension geometry would be tough but it's not anything that can't be done with pvc mockups and plenty of examples all over ig to just copy even the latest greatest

I am window shopping ideas for the Tacoma I want to look at some of the fuel cell cradles for the 50 gallon fuel safe.

I’d love to work on my tacoma completely by myself but I just moved into a rental since my housing situation changed thanks to 2020 so no real space to store the Tacoma and have room to work
I just picked up an everlast 256si but there is still a limit to the space I have and the tools I can afford

the truck is with a fabricator right now
It’s in the cue and waiting to be worked on

some of y’all in here need to drink some coffee and get rid of the crankies

I’d like to work on making the fuel cell cradle
The battery boxes and the engine cage
Maybe a few other simpler sized projects
