Toyota only has to be better than Ford, GM or Fiat. Who do you have more faith in to build a turbo 4?

not a company that sells a 100K sedan that burns coolant within one month of ownership.

good break-down on what this means for other TNGA-F vehicles

Some significant news of 4Runner and GX460 owners.

    KDSS is now electronically controlled.

Does this mean we can now detach the Swaybar at-will Electronically?

The Gazoo Racing LandCruiser is now Triple-locked! It's good to see that return. Could the 4Runner and GX come with triple-lockers?

    Eh whatever:
    • The Tundra will not sell in enough numbers to match the pace of change Ford and GM do to their trucks. 5 years after release it will be uncompetitive again.
    • The Land Cruiser sold so poorly here that the 300-series won't be offered in North America.
    • The Tacoma never had a V8 and never will so no loss here.
I'm just concerned the 4th gen Taco will turn into a bloated whale having to share a platform with the Tundra.

First of all, nobody should be listenening to anyone in here (besides me) and if you're married, divorce the wife, sell the dog and cats and kids and buy a Supra.

2021 Supra 3.0. Get it tuned, get a bigger turbo, live life, break on through to the other side. Don't look back. We'll meet again on the other side.

Possibly. There are plenty of high mileage turbo diesels out there. Obviously a diesel is a bit different than a gasoline engine, but a turbo is still a turbo.

Probably, especially if it made significantly more power than the current Tacoma V6 like the Ranger's turbo 4 does.

I'd be more concerned that Japan seems to be calling on the shots now. I believe Mike Sweers and the American teams had a big influence over the Tundra, Tacoma and 4Runner. That may not be the case going forward. For example, in that interview on the "Pickup Truck Plus SUV Talk" channel, Mike alluded that he was against excluding the V8 from the TNGA-F

Japan doesn't understand the concept of a performance truck or a luxury truck. Japan doesn't understand that Off-roading is exploding in North America.

They seem to be throwing their weight behind Sports sedans and sports cars like the Supra, IS500,a possible new MR2, and the new GT86, but there isn't really a market for those vehicles in the US. Mr. Toyoda seems to really be into sports cars, he drives professionally, and he started Gazoo Racing. After Toyoda took over the company, TRD was gutted and turned into a joke. It's a shame that they're will to take a loss on sports cars just because that's what the CEO likes, but won't give us a halo off-roader that would really sell.

I mean, they will take a loss on very low selling sports cars like the GT86 or the supra, but won't take a loss on the Land Cruiser. This despite the Land Cruiser have a huge upward swing in popularity over the last 3 years.

Looks like Toyota is trying to copy Kia/Hyundai on the Palisade/Telluride platform.

I left NJ about 8 years ago. At that time there was no legal off-roading anywhere in the state, even including dirt bikes. Only private land could be used.

Tacoma is a north American market only vehicle, as well as Tundra, I believe. They were designed by Toyota North America. It sounds like we may be getting the same chassis as the Hilux with the next gen.

Under the comments he later explains coolant loss and smoke. Basically no more coolant loss and smoke is just condensation. Now, the days of not getting and oil change after 30k miles are over. These engines do require regular maintenance and I wouldn’t be surprised if they fail from lack of care unlike the early 2000s v8s/v6s that were bomb proof.

Not to switch topics but there is a push to close most if not all of the trails in the northern-portion of the town.Trails like Gemini Bridges, Tusher Tunnel, Courthouse Plateau, etc. are in danger of being closed. There is an on-line petition going around.

Back to the topic at hand, if Ford can make a twin-turbo V6-powered Raptor a success, then Toyota should have no problem selling a twin-turbo V6 Tundra. Time will tell.

    Wait, what's happening in Moab?

Edit: Read previous post. There must be a reason why. I went through Hurrah Pass/Chickens corners in 2015 then again in 2018 and it was a different place. Worn down and tracks everywhere. Vegetation scattered and not plentiful and "untouched" like I had remembered it.

I have never been to MOAB, but base on what I have seen in the Sierras, I get it.

People are being extremely disrespectful to the parks. On a national park level, it’s almost a given, but it has definitely got way worse since the off-road explosion happened. RazRs tearing-up trails all night. Vehicles driving all into the bushes. trash and garbage everywhere.

it seems like the ricer-minded individuals have all switched to off-road and they just want to take pictures and videos of them doing crazy things for Instagram.

All it takes is one REI clad NIMBY/hippy/SJW to see that before they go raising hell to government to shutdown everything. MOAB isn’t going to be the last.

The off-road explosion has been a double-edged sword.
