    A little something every chance we get.
    Didn't get a LOT done, but I did fill up all the slots in the aquaponics today. Tiny little seedlings, and 6 test slots with just the seed (because not enough seedlings were ready - and I wanted to experiment!)

    This is the whole set-up. We'll see in a couple weeks!

    I borrow filtered water from the goldfish pond pump, which circulates through the tubes, and empties back into the pond. The pipes hold little baskets of rockwool, which sit partially submerged in the flowing water. Nutrients from the fish wastes feed the plants. Aquaponics. Only uses the water that would be needed to refill the pond anyway. Since I already run the pumps, no additional electricity.

    Because it was there, the wife won't let me get rid of it, and I haven't figured out where I want it yet.

    Morning Porchies! Happy Second Saturday to all. Only thing on my list today is redo the sunroom blinds that came in, and do something on the grill with some tenderloins later!

    And, of courrse, HAPPY BIRTHDAY @Tacoma Mike !!!

    I don't know how you folks figure out this birthday stuff. But I'm glad you do! Happy birthday Mike!

    When I wore in-the-canal hearing aids I chopped the plastic dongles off; I hated those things tickling my ear all the time. You can push the aids out by pressing in at the soft spot under your earlobe. In fact my first pair had no dongles.

    I guess I'll service the snowblower today and put it away for the season. Time to rearrange the shed, bring the summer stuff forward and push the winter stuff back into the corners. First though a trip down to Weaver's Hardware (the best hardware store on earth!) to pick up some supplies. I get cataract surgery on the second eye tomorrow, after which all of my eyeglasses will be worth spit. Gonna need some safety glasses, sunglasses, and cheaters, at least until things settle down and I can go get a new prescription.

    Have a great day folks!

    Well, I wasn't gonna post this up with pix, but I can't believe the difference just the East and West blind replacement made in the sunroom. Even the AC is working easier and can be turned to higher temps! Right now, the sun on my West window where I sit, and instead of "brutal" coming through the blind, it's actually bearable.
    OK, we had these things way too long, and wife kept saying my replacements cost too much. But she made the room over and nicer, so it really needed it.

    Done with sun above, so mostly equal light entering before and after. Closest to house is 3% transmittance, close to the yard is 5%. Before and after;

    And West before and after;

    I'm really pretty much thrilled with this. Even the TV is easier to see, and I haven't even done the North. I wanted to wait to see how the measurements work, as much as the blinds. I might even go 10% in back, for better view. Part of stimulus well spent, now to figure out how I want to do the back....

    Monkey Mountain as in Vietnam? Good morning Rob

    Happy belated birthday Mike.

    Today is grocery shopping in the am, then practice the guitar and finally get started on actually installing the outside electric outlet. Ribeye's for dinner tonight. Looks to be sunny and 50 this morning at 8am.
