Plus, have you seen the stickers on these trucks now? SR5 for $38k!? Sport/OR pushing $40k!? Pro $50k!?

At these prices, I would expect to see more SR5 sales...

I thought that it was interesting talking to a salesman at Groove Toyota when I had my recall done two weeks ago in that they only get one to two Tacoma and 4Runner TRD Pros a month and sell them for $10-15K above sticker price.

Obviously the current situation causing shortages, has made the lots look like wastelands...At the closest dealership to me (60 miles) this past Sat....they had 1 Tacoma (Off Road), 1 Tundra (SR5) and THREE Landcruisers...could have bought the Tacoma and the Tundra for less than one of the Landcruisers LOL.

That's not bad at all. Last November I was spec'ing out a 2021 Sport and was at $47k before taxes, title, shipping, etc. Instead I bought used my 2019 OR with 17k miles on it, spec'd the exact same way (minus the color I wanted and it's an OR vs Sport), was $40k OTD which included the shipping to get it to Minnesota.

Pros were $55k+ when I was looking, now it's much closer to $60k.

It is a good idea, but its unlikely for a midsize pickup truck. The tundra has a few luxuries trim levels, and thats because the tundra has enough room to fit those amenities and they think the tundra buyers are paying those big bucks for hauling family around on the road. Tacoma is small and has a lot of focus on all-terrain performance, hence the number of offroad packages (i.e tss offroad, SX, trail edition, trd off-road, and a trd pro that includes more than tundra trd pro). Limited and TRD Pro trims are not big sellers at all, and its quite obvious that the tacoma is geared towards off-road since 50% of tacomas are TRD Off-Road trims.

I never saw a Pro over $52k. Quick glance on AutoTrader shows 52 at the top of the price range for 21s with delivery. Some dealer out your way is an absolute scammer.

Was spec'ing it out on Toyota's website, and at that time (still happening now) dealerships aren't exactly going much below MSRP because they simply don't have to.

Just checked my local dealers, Sports and OR's in the Mid 40s depending on what you want. So yeah, they're not cheap.

my old lady is a former Toyota employee and we have lots of friends who are current employees. No one is budging at all on tacos. They are just too hot.

I know, I purchased mine at MSRP about a week after the 2020s were delivered. No dealer within 100 miles would go below MSRP when negotiating I almost made a deal on a 2020 OR with all the options but it came out to nearly 46k, so we figured just get the Pro for nearly the same price.

    Still, 60k is insane.

Yeah, I'm happy with my fully decked out 2019 OR that was listed at $36k ($40k OTD). With the sport I would have been nearly $50k OTD. Honestly if I could have waited I would have, I just so happened to need to get into another vehicle ASAP. Love AG, wanted AG, just not for $10k more.

About a week after I bought my Magnetic TRD OR, I saw an Army Green Tacoma, in the wild. Was kicking myself for not waiting. First used one I see in my area will be mine.

Seems the higher up you go on these trims the stranger the gremlins they develop. I noticed it the same way with the sony audio video lines. Their lower end consumer electronic products were pretty decent....when you started going into their top end their models, they were load with bugs that pissed a lot of owners off.

Microchip shortage will have dealers holding all Trucks for maximum gross. I wouldnt expect a deal until next year. I ordered mine a while back. New to the forums. Looking forward to meeting everyone. :)

Just read last night that Ford was halting mustang production for 2-4 weeks due to chip shortages. Crazy world.

Odd, Toyota is offering $1,000 cash back on all Tacos (except the Pro) - not something you'd see if they were flying off the lots above sticker. I checked my dealer, they have 2 sports on the lot (4 Tundas). The show room had a Hybrid Highlander when I was there last week for my fuel pump recall service. From my observations around the Western PA roads...SR5s are not that popular...it's the TRD O/R, Sport and Pros that dominate.

I work in the automotive industry. It's rough out there in regards to inventory. I never thought I would say, "your used car is appreciating" but used car values are going up faster than Dogecoin. Here's a simple visual for used car prices. The microchip shortage is only the start. A rubber shortage is looming as well. Experts predict us to be back on track by mid-late Q4 2021. The chip shortage means more people must consider used cars. It's never been a better time to sell your used car and a worse time to acquire a new/used vehicle in regards to price.

In the Gulf States region they like to dress up SR5s with dealer add-ons and badge them with "TSS" or Toyota Sport Series. Technically still SR5s.

Might be getting too old for this.
By wealth are you saying a real life priced RTX or an MSRP one?
