No problem dude! So you’re all set? Or still need the dash lights to work? In that case (disclaimer: I haven’t done it!), it should just be 4 wires, 2 going to the dash and 2 to the xfer case that need to be cut and spliced to bypass the 4WD ECU.

I don’t think you even need to keep that 4WD ECU in the truck any longer unless you have the factory rear locker and haven’t done the locker anytime mod yet, which I highly recommend you do as well

Because nobody makes them for our trucks. Personally, I think Toyota must be paying companies like Posi-Lok to NOT produce them, so that Toyota can rake their customers over the coals to replace these dumb actuators.

He's got a single cab so no locker. But yes, once the FJ case is in, you can chuck that 4wd computer, in fact I sold mine to a member on here that had issues with theirs, they go for almost $100 on fleabay but I passed on mine for a TW discount.

Take over the coals! Lol, I’m stealing that!
I’m not sure if you’re joking but they probably replace just as many actuators under warranty and lots are replaced with recycled parts where Yota doesn’t see a penny

That could be. I'm not sure how dealerships profit on parts for warranty claims but I'm sure if they are anything like the government, they'll have their piece of the pie. Any every week I see, "4x4 light flashing" threads just on this site alone. I can't imagine how many other people have problems with the system that just take it into a private mechanic or dealer and don't even bother reading how to troubleshoot. Even if 10% of those people pay for an OEM replacement, that's a considerable profit for them from the parts.

Labor rate for warranty work. And I’m sure with the common procedures the techs can get it done way faster than approved hours

Yes its all wired and the 4wd and 4lo lights both work as they should , drive lines are back in , waiting on the silicone to set up on the new add tube . Leaving the rubber boot off until I make sure I like the shifter clearances , might want to remove the t case stick and heat and bent it slightly it barely clears in 5th and the sticks rub in reverse , so I’m not sure I can live with that or not yet .

Question to the OP: I ordered the parts list that you mentioned on the first post. I have an add front differential that I'm converting to. I go to slide the solid inner axle into the diff. The problem that I'm having is the needle bearing is preventing the splines from going all the in. Any recommendations? Maybe a wider needle bearing and or sleeve mod?

Oh I didn't know. I just now realized this conversion was for a second gen. I have a 1st gen and the parts listed above are basically the same minus the diameter of the intermediate shaft. I guess reading and comprehension isn't one of my strong points. Hoping someone has the correct part number for the 1st gen intermediate shaft. :sawzall:

A 1st gen is the 7.5" clamshell diff and the 2nd gen is the 8" clamshell. They are different. I would only be able to guess that you need all the parts listed for the front components of a 1st gen truck with manual hubs. I don't know which parts are compatible between the ADD and manual hub trucks.

Cant say I’m familiar with the first gen parts. Sounds like you may have ordered the second gen intermediate shaft. The 2nd gen clamshell is an 8” ring gear so I don’t think any of the parts are interchangeable. That’s about all the knowledge I have on that subject sorry.

I am the OP, just reincarnated under a different handle :)

You are absolutely correct. I reread the beginning and it clearly states second gen. F me!!!!! Oh well, I will post this for sale or hang it up in my shop and stare at it. I found the correct part numbers. The only part that is the same for 1st gen and 2nd is the large clip that holds the bearing in the housing. Cool! Well, I have a complete assembly for sale if anyone wants it. All parts from Toyota.

I will get you a total. Everything is from Toyota and it's assembled ready to install on your truck. Where are you located? Send me a zip code and I will get a shipping quote.
