News on the second generation Tundra top for anyone interested. I was an early depositor but my truck is the second generation Crewmax, not the third (current) gen. Spencer and I measured both trucks and talked about possible issues early on but it wasn't until the other day that he finally got a test mule in the shop to actually sit the Tundra top on and make sure it fits. As far as I know every other Tundra customer has a third gen, at least up until recently.

It's beautiful. It sits a bit high on the 2nd gen because the third has a shark fin antenna he had to design around. I can live with it, it's a couple inches.

I'll post some pics of it sitting on a second gen here for anyone it might help. Looking forward to talking to Cindy this week and getting my order going!

Quick sneak peak of the new setup. Dad and I spent all weekend working on it. It’s PVC Foam board and ACM board.

The left side contains most of our gear, along with the Goal zero. The right will contain the water pump and diesel heater along with all my tools.

The vent still needs to be cut in, the right side needs more support in the lid and the RGBW LED strips need a little silicone to make sure the weight of the wires doesn’t pull them down.

Still need to order the water tank, but it’s all coming together.

Need some opinions, will be doing a 40 delete for the fridge. I was thinking using starboard 3/4 instead of wood. I never use starboard before, how does it hold up compared to birch?

My previous build was from starboard and I loved it. No problems with it at all. This latest (this weekend) build I did with PVC Foam Board which is lighter and still really strong. Plus you can use PVC glue to put it together. Even without screws I could stand on a two pieces out together at 90 degrees once cured.

I covered the PVS Foam Board in ACM, basically plastic core and aluminum on both sides, just to add a clean light weight covering over the pvc foam board.

Have you ever done any measurements of the weight added with a box system like that? I've keen on trying something similar but don't want to add the weight if possible. I made a quick mockup drawer set of plywood once and it was easily over 120+ lbs. Is the PVC board substantially lighter?

Yikes! It's much lighter. The larger of the two boxes is lighter weight than my Goal Zero battery by probably half. I'd say combined they are around ~50 pounds. I'll try and weigh them next time I pull them out to work on them. They aren't quite done. I've got more support to add to the right one, the vent to countersync, and the water tank / plumbing to add so I'll have them back out soon.

That's pretty good. What is the support structure underneath the panels?

I mentioned above, the setup I made is around 62lbs not including the fridge. That was around 40lbs for the aluminum plus hardware so 22ish for the plywood.

Got my email from Cindy today, order specifics in, awaiting invoice and they will be paid immediately. Yay!

    Black top
    Gray canvas
    No rear window
    Yes on forward window
    Awning brackets

*I know my window idea seems strange but I have a Tundra with a roll down back window. I'm going to remove the forward window eventually and make a pass through I can close off most of the time, if I can pull this off. Rear camera instead of rear window.

Oops, standby. It's on my phone. It is not a great pic but shows what I needed to see. It's hard to get a feel for the complete look of a finished SP with no doors and without the hinges/endcaps on the top extrusion.

I'm not sure on the window. If it's standard I guess it will save me money.

At the present moment I'm thinking that unusual gap between truck roof and SP will make a great place to mount my Maxtrax on a slide in mount/rack type of thing.
