When i was ordering my New Tacoma, manual trans's were available but as an option with the 6 speed auto standard. Times sure have changed. Learned on a 3 speed on the column and always tried to get vehicles with a manual. Now do to knee issues, the new Tacoma is an auto :(.

When I was in high school I worked part time at a local hardware store. Of all the guys on the floor I was the only one who could drive stick. Every delivery, every time I had to drive the big box truck because it was a stick. I learned to drive with three on the column. I can and will drive anything and everything. People show us any vehicle and say want to take it for a spin. Mrs Cop rolls her eyes, yep he’ll drive absolutely anything!
    Gimme the keys!

Ah, three-on-the-tree, I learned on that as well and my 1971 FJ40 is a three-on-the-tree. Still fun to drive it, love the pull and push forward feeling in shifting.

Another one here who learned to drive three on the tree, heck, even the driver ed. car in HS was three on the tree!

Mike, don't count on any rate reduction, they only want add on! I brought that up to my Insurance co. over the years about a rate reduction as a non drinker, even though that should be good for some type of discount it didn't count at all!!
The best one was after paying high insurance for a high performance car, (assigned risk), the car no longer was considered high performance! o_O
Somewhere back in the 70's, they changed it to anything after a certain year, with more than a certain amount of cubic inches, was considered Hi Perf., mine was older than the year they came up with so it qualified for normal insurance as a non Hi performance car, hey, I didn't make the rules! :notsure:
Sometimes I'm glad that there are idiots who come up with this stuff!!!

When I was stationed in England ('94 - '01) a good portion of base motor pool vehicles were MT. People would come TDY and be assigned U-Drive with MT, then complain they couldn't drive manual. My response, "I guess you walk." Like to think I taught a few folks by throwing 'em in that deep end of the pool. :D

The guy who opened the first Subaru dealership here in Scranton back in 69 or 70 used to tell people they were a "special" type of automatic transmissions when they said they couldn't drive standard (which is all Subaru sold in the beginning). He would take them out in an old field by the dealership and show them how to drive the "special" auto transmission.

Snowblower service turned into a PITA. Every little issue turned into a project. Even the spray paint I used last year decided to clog up. I ended up making 3 different trips to the hardware store. I guess I shouldn't complain, because that machine worked above and beyond the call of duty this past winter. It deserved the attention!

Yesterday I got my second cataract surgery done. It went very smoothly. It's been weird over the past few weeks, with one eye extremely nearsighted and other farsighted! My brain had a fun time with that setup! Depth perception was completely shot; I couldn't hit a wedge with a sledge to save my life. And colors were different from one eye to the next; turns out that cataracts change the color of things -- give everything a kind of sepia tone. All in all it was pretty weird. I'm glad to finally have them both done. Distance vision is pretty good already, just one day afterwards. But I get to live with compromised near vision for the next few weeks, until things settle down and I can get a new prescription. Drug store readers to the rescue! (I wasn't a candidate for the fancy new replacement lenses because of glaucoma; they put stents in my eyes to help with that.)

Interesting ..... all this chatter about driving manuals. I learned to drive in a "manual" 1949 Chevy truck with one of those "starter pedals" on the floor (was in the early 60's). I then drove nothing but manuals until 2007 when I bought my first Tacoma in Las Cruces. Really miss shifting, but as pointed out, hard to find these days.

    Afternoon all:
    Trailer looks good Mark!
Don't know if you remember when I had a TRT off road decal made up that resembled the TRD decal, under it it said Toyota Road and Trail, it looked pretty good.

Good to hear things went well with the eye procedures Dave, shortly you'll be good as new!

OK, breaks over, back to mowing! :(

We didn't shoot any video. Unfortunately, we hit cold weather - and one rain out day - until the day we went home. But, any time in the Z3 is good time.

A little something every chance we get.
The simple reason, is like so many other discounts - when they lump things together, and simplify the reasoning behind the actuaries, the easier it is to slug it out on TV and on-line for customers. That Hi-Po car is simply and old car - and they presume you have Hagerty's if it's worth a special amount; otherwise they will simply value limit it to the "typical" car of that age. Age, miles travelled, all boiled down to fit simplified competitive packages!

Glad you are recovering nicely! This is all very interesting as I know I have "something" coming up in the future. Can't find an eye doctor/eyeglass place I can stomach two years in a row though. Docs all have different opinions and levels of knowing what Medicare might cover, eye glass places are the same. Bargain offer, and WITH insurance, always the same price!

I like the truck and trailer combo, Mark! Does look like it should have an old Willy's with a star on it though!

I was kind of unhappy when I got a call from the place that has the truck for the AC work. Even though it was not working, the problem was not showing itself. We talked for a bit, and I authorized a couple parts cost that might solve the mystery, or at least give him a better place to look. Well, he did some more research on things, and I got a text about 4PM with a Quote! Never been so happy to see a bill in my life. Compressor was not only fried, but causing all the error readings on the other devices. Parts in stock in San Antonio, and will be in the shop tomorrow!
