Hmm. Thinking how difficult it would be to mask off the TRD / PRO paint the rest black, then remove the taped section

    Edit: yeah, or ^

I was thinking cut out the dish, 3d print a template with custom options for letters (Tacoma, TRD, Toyota, OffRoad, Sport, Limited, Tonered) then jb-weld it in place. But the whole thing needs a dose of blackout too. And if you made one side awesome you'd have to do both.

Might be fun if someone has a crashed pair of these with those pieces still intact? All those ones with broken tabs which got tossed in the dumpster would be perfect for this :( snif

@MESO has done something like this with his headlights.

His were the non pro version with full customization. They look awesome.

Something for the masses would be great but then again the tradeoff of cracking open a perfectly good and rather expensive headlight assembly is not for the meek.

I’d consider it if we had a perfect fit piece ready to go. Could knock out the sidemarker at the same time.

I installed mine yesterday with Mike's (xrunnerdude67@gmail.com) harnesses and everything went in perfect. I just made sure to match wire colors for the lamp connectors.

Only issue I had was when I squeezed one of the factory connectors to remove the stock headlamp, I heard a snap. One of the retainer clips snapped off. Poor choice of plastic (too brittle) by Toyota. I had to tape the connector together.

I highly recommend Mike's Harnesses. I got them in about 5 days, all the wires were color coded correctly, and I had excellent communication from him.

Anyone have any insight on why the Tacoma LED headlights are $650-ish each when the Tundra LED headlights are $250-ish each? I know the Tundra's are not DRL / sequential turns, but still a little curious.

They can charge what the market is willing to pay, I suppose.

An even better question is what the TRD Pro Non-LED projector headlights are $1,000 each, when the OEM LED version can be had for ~$650?

It is crazy. I'd be happy with the Pro Projector lights (for the black internals) but in no way shape or form would pay $2k for it. Changing to the LED version for $1300 is a no brainer if you're getting new lights, still unfortunate the Pro version has the illuminated "TRD PRO" in them. Glad to see it possible to remove it, but also not interested in cracking open $1300 worth of headlights either.

The OEM LED headlights for my Honda Odyssey are priced similarly to the Tacoma. At least we have clarity that the Tacoma lights perform well. I don’t know that we have that information about the Tundra lights. It would certainly be interesting to know.

Yeah, I wish they put the non-LED Pro headlights in the OR and Sport starting in 2020 and then trickle them down to SR5 and SR w. SX at the end of life cycle.

Yeah, wondering why they didn't when they did on the Tundra's with the LED DRL strip

    Hi all,
Finally I am pulling the trigger and getting the OEM LED Non PRO for the sport :)
I have mikes harness waiting at home and getting ready to place the order for the LED headlights.
My question is, I might be over thinking this now after reading many pages in this thread.

Do the colors of mikes harness match up exactly to OEM coloring? I want to ensure I don't blow any fuses or damage anything.
This previous post has me confused. It seems the user just swapped the harnesses from driver and passenger.
Is there any others who have pictures of both driver and passenger side wires connected to mikes harness so I can see the colors used for the high and low's?

Also if you make note, the high beam has the H9 connector and two tabs on the inside rather than the 1 tab for the low beam? Mikes adapter also has these different tabs to distinguish?

Last question, are a majority of you just leaving the adapter hanging off the back of the headlight, or are you mouting/ziptie it up somewhere?

    Thanks guys.

Colors match exactly if you put the red on driver side and yellow on passenger side.

With one exception, OEM grounds are white w black stripe while Mike harness has solid black for ground. Ground is pulled off the high beam connector on both sides. Match up the low beam colors first then match the high beam color being careful to differentiate solid white and white w black stripe on the driver side.

Sidemarker caps seal those connectors which aren’t needed.

I initially bundled w some low adhesive tape but found that trapped water. I have the sidemarker feeds zip tied and the rest in a pile. I’d prefer to be more organized in the future with some sort of plastic organizer of sorts.

The message he quoted was two guys ago, someone who used Mike’s and swapped sides.

    Thanks man!
Easy enough 1 wire for low to green plug, high is dual wires and to yellow plug!

Mike's harness should be incapable of blowing a fuse. The TRS harness has multiple grounds and can pop a fuse if done incorrectly.
