My favorite things about either of my TRDOR's are not the suspension or wheels and tires. It's the smaller creature comforts and advanced tech that constantly puts a smile on my face. Different strokes for different folks.

I actually have the same tech...the technology package is available for the SR5. 8” media center, BSM, reverse sensors, power rear slider, power seat, bed lights...the only thing I’m missing is the terrain management system and crawl control. But those are not needed. I didn’t want the leather as it’s hot as hell in Nevada during the summer. And heated seats do nothing for me here.

You also have the smart key and DRL's? Those are by far my favorite tech-related things about my TRDOR's. Never having to use a key has tremendous value to me.

My Pro manual gets the dumb dumb key.

So hilarious that Toyota still doesn't have push start smart keys on their manual trucks while even cheap budget Mitsubishi Evo I had back in 2014 had it.

DRL’S, yes. No smart key. I do still have to use the old fashion key and key fob. I don’t think that’s worth $10k though. But the TRD is a great out of the box rig. If you have no plans to upgrade then that’s the way to go. But if you’re going to upgrade for off roading and/or overlanding, that $10k or more is better used elsewhere.

Have a 2021 TRD pro being built. Have RTX 3060ti FE and 3070 FE. Had a 3080 in my cart but error out .

    I want that 3080 bad!

Where are you seeing $10k diff between a TRD and a SR5? Everywhere I look, it's about $1800-$2500 difference in msrp. I get you can build one up like you have and save money but the cost isn't really that different at least in the northwest (may be greater in other areas).

the TRD OR carries a big markup here for some reason. When I choose my truck, I originally wanted a TRD. But in comparing the price the TRD OR that was available was $10,500 over the SR5 I ended selecting. Supply and demand I guess. I bought mine 7 months ago. Out the door my truck was $27,000 versus nearly $39,000 on the TRD OR

    $27k - Holy Shizzzz - should have bought 2!!! I don't blame you, if I found a SR5 for $27k, I would be all over it.

This is the same thing I see where I live (Flagstaff, AZ a small, pricey mountain town with many, many Tacomas, mostly TRDOR's) as well.

Just saw RDVM's most recent post. With that kind of price difference I'd be highly tempted too! But when I bought my 2021 TRDOR DCLB with tech 5 weeks ago it was within 2,000 of a tech equipped DCSB SR5. It was a no-brainer for me.

I think the demand for the TRD allows some of these SR5 models to linger on the lot much longer then the dealers like. And I enjoyed the benefit of the temporary slow down in Las Vegas employment market at the time. Dealers were tossing a lot of extra incentives to move vehicles.

Honestly, after everything I've done to my truck and what I use it for, I would have been better off getting a SR5. I have not left it at stock at all now and am already looking to replace the factory leather with Katzkin.

The SR5 with added Katzkin's would actually be a much nicer interior. I too am thinking about making this change as the factory leather isn't very good. It's nicer than fabric but I think Katzkin's are way better. I agree, for most buyers, the badge on the back isn't worth the money once all of the mods are done.

You do get a better speaker set up though. I don’t have the JBL sub. I ended up ordering the OEM Audio+ system. Which is quite a bit more expensive then selecting the JBL system.

Yep, we hit that timing our Infiniti Q50. Bought it the first real week of the pandemic when nobody was sure of anything. They reactivated an $11000 rebate and gave us the maintenance package for free. Covered our negative equity on our 2015 Jaguar (long story).

I just like the options and look of Katzkin better. - color match (or close to it) to my exterior paint. Comfort wise the factory leather is fine for me.

You're going Cav Blue on the Katzkin's?! That will be sick looking! Please post pics if you do.

I agree. Although, I’m not a big fan of leather, just due to the heat is seems to absorb while the truck is parked. I think Katzkin leather options are awesome. Color and design choices are great. If I ever get the leather bug, that’s the company I’ll go with.

Oh, I'm doing it. Either this fall or early next year. Within the past 5 months I've done all my mods (wheels, tires, lift, tuning, headlights, tail lights, etc) so I'm taking a little mod breathier while I my wallet stops crying. But yeah, it's getting done.
