Gravely delivery tomorrow. Not going to be able to sleep!

 

Surprised you started it up again so quickly after righting it; generally they say to let it sit overnight for any 'rogue fluids' to gravity feed their way back down to where they belong. Glad you and the machine are all right, though, for sure. We get comfortable on these things and it's easy to forget how fast things can go sideways.

 

Also got some time to work on the mini skid steer. I already freed up the lift cylinder pins (seized inside the cylinder and rod ends) and repacked with new seals. Lift power is now fantastic.

The tilt cylinder is another story. It’s captured in auto-leveling linkage and is a bit more involved to remove. The rod end pin is fine, removed with a few hammer taps. The pin in the cylinder end is seized tight. I’ll mushroom the pin before it lets go.
So I’m removing the entire cylinder to press the pin out and repack the cylinder. Once that’s done, some welding on the frame, drive out the rest of the pivot pins, add grease fittings where I can, lube everything, replace the oil and hydraulic fluid, and that’ll be it for the summer.

Gotta pull it out of the basement once it’s ready for welding, then it’ll live in the shed or under a cover.

I’m jelly about the zero turn delivery!! I’d take a week off and mow sumptin everyday!! Then service the oil for the break in period and wash it ....

Been hitting with Aerokroil since this morning.

 

They told me to service mine at 10
Hours. So I did then I decided to do it again at 40 and I still have metal shavings in my oil. Doing it again at 60

 

I had one, tried to get one off with little effort. Didn’t succeed. Put a tube in it while still attached.

 

That’s why you pay 9k for a mower. For the warranty. If there is shavings in at 60 I’ll be taking the old oil and the mower to the dealer and let them take care of it. Not to concerned.

 

Hoping it last me 25 years. That’s why I paid for a high end mower. And I have 5 acres I cut weekly of my own. Told myself I was gonna buy one and be done. I’m only 26 so sure I’ll need a new one before the end of my time but this should last me a long time. I didn’t mind the price. Paid cash and moved on.

Pic of said oil. Doesn’t look to bad I guess. Motor is far from broken in at only 40 hours. So we will see how it looks this next oil change.

 

At 40 hours that motor should be broken in. As in, no metal flakes at all. If the motor has a filter, cut the filter open and have a look. Get it figured out before the warranty runs out. just imo.

 

Warranty is for 5 years so not to worried. According to every mower shop I’ve talked to a new motor isn’t broken in until 800-1000 hours. Motor does a filter.
