    Hello,
Bought my first taco, a 2019 Tacoma SR5 RWD

I want to go Overlanding on the weekends but it would be my first time driving through that type of terrain. What are my limitations with a RWD taco? Also what are some suggestions on upgrades? Thank you

    Welcome!

Tires for sure. Stock tires are only good for road use.

Yeah tires for sure. You could do so light off road trails with those but honestly I wouldn't feel very confident on street tires even on fire roads without 4wd. Good tires will help.

Isn't overlanding about tents and lots of LED's?

    A few.
Since u dont have 4x4 or a locker, after tires, you might want to invest in a winch.

Welcome OP. Tires to start then see what you need. For me I base things on needs not wants. Otherwise be prepared :spending:

Having RWD will limit you in your adventures but it's not all bad. You can still travel plenty of forest roads and trails you just have to be smart about it, as long as you have some good All Terrain tires to help protect against puntures from sharp objects, you should be ok. Just don't try to drive through that large puddle thats 3ft deep with soft mud. Mine is also RWD SR5, I love to go out and do dispersed camping, just gotta be aware of surroundings.

GOOD tires for sure since you're 2wd.

For those of you with the 2wd taco, why not spend a few extra for 4wd if you had plans to get out and overland? I could not imagine my truck without 4wd.

I didn't find out about the whole overlanding thing until after I purchased my 2wd.

I had a stupid good deal for my 2wd and unfortunately didn’t catch the wave till later :(
Had a crazy snow adventure in CO (first time driving in a steep mountain w/snow and granted it would’ve been easier in 4wd but still managed. Was pretty exciting nonetheless !

its just driving to your campsite.... camping. you dont need all that shit to go camping unless you want Instagram likes. But 4wd is necessary in certain areas

While generally I agree, my campsites are all accessible with a well-driven 2wd.
