When does Scott's Lake usually open? It is up at 8,000 ft so i'm thinking towards the end of May even with the lack of snow this year. I was hoping to get up there this season before the lake gets super low.

Exploring some deactivated logging roads in the mountains north of Mission yesterday...needed an excuse to test my new winch

Those trenches that logging companies dig across forest service roads to shut them down? Way deeper and way more interesting to traverse than one might think. Apparently I need a bit of a lift. And better tyres. And probably a new hitch receiver :itllbuffout:

We are sorta kinda locked down here, restricted to our respective Health Regions, but still lots of places to go and get cold and wet and muddy

And have noodles. Apparently it is some kind of law that you have to have noodles on a cold day.

I'm with you on being impressed with a stock Taco. I continue to be amazed with where mine will take me....

Cool pix, thanks for posting...I will add Hollister Hills to my list of destinations when we are finally paroled.....

Looks like you had fun! Nice addition with the winch. Was it busy out there especially since were locked down in our respective health regions?

Yeah, it was a nice breather....I like the winch, glad I've got it in case I ever actually need it....I will diligently service it and spool it out the obligatory 20 feet or so every month (in a mall parking lot), but I really hope I never use it for real. Apparently winch cables were much lighter when I was in my youth :p

For most of the day we literally did not see another soul; we heard some logging ops on the radio, but methinks they were the next mountain over. It was a weekday, so i'm guessing most normal folks are working, and about 6km up this particular road is gated, as it is the watershed for Mission and Abbotsford. Restricted access unless you work up there (logging or city) or have a 4WD association membership. Still, I expected more people. By late afternoon, as we were heading out, a covey of ATVs was heading up

There are a couple (well, several) really popular FSRs in the Region and they are busy all the time - ridiculously so on a nice weekend - but the harder to access (or traverse) roads are not usually overwhelmed.

Awesome, thanks for the update. Haven't been out to Norrish Creek FSR. Sylvester road back in the winter. Wasn't too busy but during the week. Yes, only time I'd go exploring is weekdays. Way more sane!

Awesome action pics all. Glad to see so many getting your flex on. Meanwhile out in Oregon I had a sidewall blowout that cut my early morning coffee run a bit short
