Dealer told me my truck was built on 4/8 but I still haven’t been able to track it even with the VIN. I can find specs on Toyota website but it doesn’t say where it is.

I'm paying MSRP. All of the dealers in my area except the one I bought it from is marking them up like crazy.

    Automatic.
So my understanding is the price is depending on what the dealer has agreed upon with Costco. I don’t want to post up pricing but I would encourage you to look through the Costco program if you have a membership. If you don’t have a membership, it would more than cover itself. I can tell you one of the two participating dealers excluded Pros. Other said Pro was easier to find than the specific truck I wanted and offered to do Costco pricing. (Cement TRD sport premium with LED headlights and advanced technology package) I would have gone with a Pro if I could have got cement or army green, but as you know that doesn’t exist for 2021.

As in production of any serialized product / device having variable configurations, s/n (VIN) is applied when production processing of final assembly (your specific truck) is initiated. When the VIN is visible to dealer or shared with you is less clear but would expect real VIN to be visible to dealer quite quickly.

It's been a couple days since my last update but I've been enjoying the truck so much I can't even describe it.

Deal made on 1/9, allocation approved 1/26, built in Guanajuato on 3/12, PA dealer arrival 4/15, and due to transit damage I took delivery 4/21. I'll call it about 3.5 months.

For those wondering about the million moving parts involved in getting in this truck.. Patience is key. My salesman was less than helpful throughout the process but once the truck was at the dealer he made the process easier and less stressful. I like transparency but didn't receive much until the truck was at the dealer. Of course every salesman/dealer operates differently but I would've been much more comfortable had I looked for red flags and addressed them early in my journey. If your dealer lacks basic communication skills or care, find another dealer.

Ultimately the truck arrived (mostly unscathed) and despite the market conditions and the fact that there were zero, yes zero, other Tacomas on the lot, they stuck with their pricing adjustments and saved me 6% off MSRP before Toyota Incentives. Also, if possible, place a (refundable) deposit. My dealer had the truck "reserved" for me and wouldn't take a deposit. My guess is they knew they could sell the truck in days regardless of whether I was following through with a purchase. I would've felt much more comfortable knowing the truck was secured with something more than a handshake.

For me, this was worth the wait and I'll enjoy the hell out of this truck.

Went into the dealer a week ago to order a MGM TRD PRO w/ manual tranny, they had a MGM OR w/manual tranny, black package, LED headlight with LED DRL + black bezel, LED fog, Tech package, and TRD premium OR package on the lot. Dealer told me $1000 under MSRP if I wanted the OR instead. Told him to through in the TRD PRO grill complete and we have a deal. So ended up with no wait time and a truck with everything I wanted in it under MSRP; which is great for this area. Only wanted the PRO for the grill and wheels anyway as the suspension would have been removed.

Timing is a good thing some times.

My Tacoma is configured with the automatic. Wife has no desire to learn how to drive a manual and for us it was easier to settle for an automatic.

My Mustang is a manual so I still get to enjoy some shifting and spirited driving.

    Nothing yet, lift coming soon!
All right everyone here that has ordered a truck and had to wait, I need your help! I just got off the phone with my dealer and I’m expecting to have the truck in Port, on May 21. Then he says there’s a few days wait after that to get here.

what I want to know from all of you that have gone through this before is how long did you have to wait after port to get here, is port anywhere near a reliable date?

The other question I have is do y’all know of any way to track your vehicle prior to arriving at port? My dealer is telling me that he will get the van when it arrives to port and goes into “I” status. Is there a tracking method that I could ask about before it gets there?

I appreciate all of y’all‘s help! This wait is killing me! We ordered this thing in January!!!
