I need a daily driver/occasional off reading shock assembly that’s already fully loaded.
Gotta 2015 4x4. Just want to replace the fronts and spend less then $400 for the pair. Any suggestions?

Fully Loaded for $400? Maybe a set of used take offs from a 2016+?

I’d go 4600 or 5100 and use your coils.
If you have access to another vehicle, a lot of shops will swap the coil springs for a very reasonable price.
Drop them off in the morning and usually have them back by noon.
Or if your lucky, they might do it while you wait.

Maybe put a WTB over in the For Sell forum?
You’re best option for that price is a set of 3rd Gen take offs.
They will add about 1” of lift.

    Do you have a link?

If you're not putting something with a ridiculous spring length or rate in (and you are not) you can use the lower control arm and a floor jack as a press for assembly just make sure the spring isolator is centered before torquing anything down.

I would do 5100's or 3rd gen take offs from a Sport or Off-Road.

I still think that may be pushing your budget.

It's actually very safe, once you get the top washers and nuts on the spring is captive and not going anywhere even if the jack slips which it won't. You can get the top hardware started with only a little bit of pressure from the jack on the lower control arm, especially when you're using your stock springs or stock spring rates.

Looks up videos on youtube if you're unsure.

I've not been very impressed with KYB, I decided to use their top hats and spring isolators when I did my 5100 install so I didn't have to disassemble my stock ones expecting them to be very difficult to take apart if not impossible without cutting however in the end the KYBs looked worse both the rubber and the top hats after only 2 years versus the OEM ones which had been in there for 8. :notsure:

    YMMV.

yea ive heard good things about the kyb's gonna probably run them for a while and if i dont like them ill swap them later. just want to start putting the last pieces of my car together to finally get it on the road. i can afford better but ive already put about 5k bringing this car back to life, im trying not to go overboard lol. the car was stripped for almost every bolt and nut, and i had to basically replace the whole front suspension and cats.

I went KYB solely off my experience. (On a car)
Had Monroe Load Adjusting on a Ram 1500. Wasn’t too impressed after a year of towing with them.
Other than Billys, I haven’t personally run anything else on my Tacoma’s.

some people do spring work with spring tools that can be rented
if you have access to a shop sometimes they have higher quality more expensive tools that are safer
like a Branick wall mounted spring compressor

well that's good. At least you respect the power of the spring. Not everyone does.
Because yes, it can cause injury
