yeah i would end up in an SE Tacoma or grab some Nissan Versa shit box for a few years especially since we’re considering moving to Austin.

but then I remember how many plans I’ve already made for camping etc this summer. But an SR Tacoma would be just fine for that. I could keep my skids sliders and sleeping setup even.

I'm going in, we will be using the speakers for business as well. The projector most likely too, makes the budget a little bigger than a home set up would normally go, but we kept it from being too crazy I think.

I was considering a SR Tacoma as well. The Double cab V6 4x4 has a lot of standard options for 2021, and then do some mods from there.

I know we have a few tire guys in here.

Anything special about trailer tires? Have a few 15 inch tires that are dry rotted. Do I need specific trailer tires or can I get away with almost anything in the same size? I’m guessing it’s the ply rating to watch for?

the only thing it doesn’t have that’s not an easy job is a locker. And a power sliding rear window.

everything else is an easy DIY. Or, I don’t need it/use it. I could do without push button start.

besides. I want the manual seats. I hate power seats.

I got a quote for work the other day where they had the cables listed from that company. Definitely an unfortunate name!

when my last truck was in the shop for a deer strike I had an SR rental. Biggest gripe was that it didn’t have intermittent wipers or remote keyless entry. Very annoying.

Yeah just stick with trailer tires. They’re cheap enough anyway. Your trailers wheel bearings will thank you

There’s the whole thing about China bombs. Depending on the use and how heavy you’re towing, it can make a difference. For light trailer, local use, i’d just get decent brand and not worry about it. If towing heavy for long distances, then maybe I'd be a little more selective.

Does anyone near Boston, MA install OV tune? Would like the tune to be installed as I don’t even own a Windows laptop.

don’t quote me on this but I think the 2020+ got the intermittent wipers. And keyless entry is easy to add. Pre 2019 ish the passenger side on higher trims didn’t have it and people were adding it a lot.

easy projects to add what you want instead of paying more for what you don’t use, I should have gotten an SR looking back  but I’m still happy with the truck.

I’ll check out some dealer prices near me and see if it’s worth my time to try to pitch and rebuy a new one. Even if I break even money wise I might consider it since I’d be resetting the clock on mileage and warranty. 18 months 32k miles free? Worth a few hours.

problem in RI is that you pay full sales tax on a truck sale price regardlesss of trade in. I could trade in for a car and they do the tax reduction but not for a truck. Shenanigans.

If you only go around town, sure trailer tires.

If you are ever taking it on a trip, get a real fucking tire. YOU WILL REGRET IT if you don't. When you can't go over 55 or a piece of shrap metal shreds the shit out of it.

I had trailer tires for one trip to maine. bought real tires while I was there, never again will I get a tiny tire that can't at least do 75.

I'd consider stepping back down to an XLT next time because they added a lot to the 21s that was previously Lariat only, but 4 Auto is still Lariat only and I loved that this winter.

Have to see what the new Tundra looks like too. If that's really a twin turbo V6 and gets some added/updated bells and whistles that the domestics have it'd definitely be something I'd consider.

Of course I should keep this a few more years.

You remind me now that I could easily drop the Tacoma and fit into an F150 and cover everything I do with same or better MPG. I would have to get a woods beater but that sounds more fun than taking my daily into the trails!

I'll have to look around at some prices and stuff around me and see if it makes any sense.

Mine are going to become more worn on one side - the axle is slightly bent so the camber is off. I didn't notice at first because it's harder to tell on a sloped dirt driveway, but I'm not upset about it since I wanted to put brakes on it anyway. I figure I'll just buy a new axle with brakes for a few hundred bucks and everything's new then. I already redid most of the wiring and have a 7-pin plug on it in preparation.

I'm just debating on waiting for it to wear the tires and using it as an excuse to buy new tires and wheels (ugly and starting to rust, and I'm not motivated to clean them up) too, or getting a new axle now while the tires that are on it are still pretty good.

we just bought out my ‘18 sr5 lease for $26k because I couldn’t find anything else reasonably priced with comparable options and miles. Could prob flip it for a quick 5-7k profit but would still be in the same boat finding something to replace it.
