That shipping cost looks very suspicious. Otherwise it might be the best price I've ever seen on a OEM one.

Why do I feel like when I sold the ones off my 2017 Sport it was $50 shipped, and why do I feel like they were not LED?

Good morning MD, does anyone have any experience with Lexus GX470's? Gonna go look at one this evening. Any Pro's/Con's? Things to make sure are looked at? This would be for the fam/wife/trips/hauling. To me it's just so much more badass than a freakin minivan. Don't get me wrong, I can dig the Sienna, but this thing looks saweeet. Got the head nod from the wifey to go check it out. Thanks in advance

GX470s and 4th gen 4runners are very similar, same frame iirc. These are my experience from reading about and owning a 4th gen, although I have the v6 *sad noise*
    • What year? 03-04 4.7 4runners were nonvvti and 05-09 4.7 4runners were single vvti, so I imagine gx470 followed the same pattern. One is not necessarily better than the other, but figure out what you want. An easy check if you're not sure: Aluminum intake = nonvvti, plastic intake = vvti
    • Check timing belt change date, it is an interference engine. Should be every 90k or 7 years - time wears out the belt too not just miles. Note: I have seen on t4r and FB non-vvti "interference" 4.7s break timing belt and not blow up, but not something I would chance on the belt.
    • I want to say they didn't have the xreas shock system, but check for it. it will have little hydraulic lines coming out of the shocks that connect them. Xreas tends to leak after 150k or so
    • Cracked exhaust manifold. This is a 4.7 general issue and will give a p0420 or po4030. I forget but I thin its usually only one side that does. Can be fixed with Doug Throley shorties or long tube depending on if you need cats for your area
    • Rear air bag system is functioning properly
    • A/C working properly. Evap core on 4th gens goes bad after 15-20 years, and its a lot of work to get in there
    • Starter is a pain in the butt on the 4.7, in the engine valley
    Rust is a biggie. Check
    • front crossmember under the radiator, especially on the back passenger side seems to be the worst
    • passenger side wheel well where A/C drain drips from firewall. Especially on the bottom of the frame and along the slope where water would drip and hold
    • Frame rail on the inside just behind the body mount (The one that always gets chopped) right around the catalytic converter. Theres a factory hole there, and the cat bakes the paint off so it starts to rust and expand
    • rear crossmember under bumper cover. The end caps rust out, but usually not the crossmember or frame rails themselves.
    • Fuel tank straps, rear strap especially will rust out first, right in the visual area between the skid and the frame
    • Any broken bolts on the front skids. these are a problem area, even on southerner 4runners

Hey man, thank you so much! Really appreciate the details. I'll be printing out your reply and will bring it with me so I don't forget to check some of these things.

No problem, good deal. Good idea on the printing. If you wait to print until leaving this evening, I may add a few things as they come to mind, so check back

If any of the areas are confusing, I've got pics I can dig up when I get home from work

I don't think so. It's why I upgraded to the Morimoto XB version and sold them.

Will certainly do. Going after work, so I do have sometime to do some research as well. It's an 04.

Good stuff, I can dig up pictures of the rust areas or elaborate if anything is confusing. Bring a pokey thing like a screwdriver to do some prodding

04 is good, if its nonvvti, I hear it is easier to supercharge lol
