yeah. if we had a 10 speed with the range ofa. 12 speed, I wouldn't complain. get that sweet 52t and 10th cogs. I think I use 1-5 and like 9-12 mostly. everything in between is...not as used.

Is this not the whole point of the Box Prime 9 drivetrains....? I think they're 11-50t, so perhaps that's not quite wide enough range for you.

that would be an interesting idea. I used to have the old nx 11-50t. so a 9 speed might work. I should give it a try........

It's also supposed to improve durability since 9 speed drivetrains have more spacing between gears which means less picky derailleurs, thicker chains, etc. I'm absolutely going to give a Box drivetrain a try when my Sram Eagle stuff dies.

I'm not crazy about the box setup on my chameleon - mostly the shifter, doesnt feel as crisp as sram or higher end shimano. I'm also a sram drivetrain fanboy though.

I cleaned my backpack that I use riding...for the first time in like 2 years. Why? Mostly because I noticed horrid stank coming from the shoulder straps. And (being a bachelor) the tub was used...because that's the only good use for the tub right now. Boy was the backpack DIRTY. The tub WAS white...Then it got covered in dirt and grime that needed a thorough washing. LOL. Clean your gear folks.

I dented up my Chromag wheel this week so I'm going to try again and mount a tire tonight. anybody got tips? I've bent it back relatively straight and I'm going to use excess tape on the biggest dent. Ideally could get it running before the TW meetup this weekend

i bought a camelbak mule nv back in like 2017. ripped on my first ride and have been sitting in storage since. finally shipped it to a gear repair place in seattle.

i was working the bike shop when i got the bag and it was super clearance, so like maybe $40 for the bag. it cost me 30 to ship it and probably 70 to repair....

im an idiot. but reduce reuse recycle right?

    Good to know.

I believe one is their highest end stuff and three is their lower end. I'm not sure if there's much difference between the Prime 9 and 11 speed stuff in terms of quality, but I'm personally more interested in the 9 speed for simplicity and durability sake.

Yeah, my main gripe is just shifter feel; spongy or mushy is the only word that comes to mind.

Does it use a pull ratio that is compatible with SRAM or Shimano so that you could use one of their shifters?

I mean...I don't blame you for repairing the bag. but yeah. cost wise, didn't quite work out. haha! shoudl've warrantied it right off the get go. Maybe you could've saved some more money? I've been using my old deuter hiking pack and it works perfectly as a bike backpack. It's got an air gap for ventilation, plenty space for water and tools in the bag and food for longer days. very comfortable, and it almost acts like a back protector because the air gap acts like a suspension. hah!

not to mention i've broken the clips on them before and deuter no question sent me a new one.

Is 12 speed really worth it? Don’t laugh, but my bike was 2x10 when I bought it in 2015 as was my wife’s (mine, SC Tallboy, her’s Ripley V2). My Shimano drive train was toast after 3 years so I upgraded to 11 speed GX, 10-42 cassette and 30T chainring. Last year she upgraded to Eagle GX, 10-50. I think. She likes the lower granny and wider spread but not crazy about the shifting despite regular adjustment while my 11 speed just works perfectly. The spread is adequate and jumps between gears are fine, though I bet a 10 speed with the same range would be ok too. I don’t miss the front D at all, but is this 10-11-12 thing on the back just an endless upgrade path with skinnier weaker chains and more finicky adjustment? I’m old enough to remember when a “ten speed” was 2x5.

I had a custom 1x10 I converted over from a 2x10 on my old Giant Trance X and it was great. Didn't notice much of a difference going to a 1x12 except that the new GX 1x12 always finicky between two gears. Same with my new X01/GX setup. The 1x10 was flawless.
