    Yes
Isn't there about a 100lb weight difference just in the blocks between iron and aluminum ?

    Yes
But that motor is also spec’d to start at 700hp and go to 1200 depending on the build spec you chose

doing so with aluminum (from my research, so subject to error)
Is a higher cost for the same parts to make sure it plays correctly at higher HP and temp with the expansion/contraction of the block

The Geiser luxury prerunners based off the raptor would be turn key and probably would be around the same price in the long run. 50 gal fuel cell is pretty big as far as range, really really big as far as proportion to the truck. You're acting like there's multiple options where to put it when realistically it's more like pick the front side or the back side of the bed - fuel cell goes there, everything else on the other side. If you really wanted to go nuts with a custom tank i guess you could get a real big flat one and make that the whole bottom of the bed or under the raised section at the back of the floor if double cab but those would be kinda dangerous even with the bottom well plated
Edit: i'm not sure i understand your budget either. Seems you're constantly dropping thousands on parts then trying to resell them here like a month later but you don't got the money for a built prerunner or even a down payment/collateral on a fancy loan for one??

If you've spent enough on a Taco prerunner to be able to afford a tube chassis race truck you've done something far more egregious in the build of your truck than we are aware of

Yeah my taco build even with all my wrong choice parts is still in the 125k or less

    in response to @not_nick
I have only had 2 parts I needed to flip
1 set of tig welded trailing arms from the camburg race truck that I “thought” would work on my truck
    I was wrong
So parts need to be sold

then I bought links from Steve at dirt designs
Gangster links and I like them a lot

the person who is going to finish my truck wanted tig links and a different length,
He knows a ton more than me and as a friend I trust his judgement
    Thus....
Dirt designs links gotta get sold

    seems pretty straight forward
And in total only 4500$ between both sets of parts

so still far short of 200k+

    And to be clear
Cause it seems to be somehow important to you how much I make....
    I make 50k a year

    may I see your truck?
I’d love to see where your build is at

    Edit:
I have a build thread here nick
Why don’t you look at it. You can determine how much money is in my truck and let us all know if the trophy truck would have been cheaper

Good :fistbump: yeah with all the “learning experiences” and parts list you’ve shown it’s not cheap but I would definitely say nowhere near $125k. I can barely afford my stupid driveway ornament too lol.

I’m sure you saw the results of the last “cage” if that’s what they wanted to call it
But that really devastated my budget
And then the second half of 2020 covid added insult to injury
If it hadn’t been for those two hiccups I’d likely have been done and driving by now

Similar to this truck. Didn’t even have good welds on the half of the tubes that actually were welded. It’s the worst way to find out a shop sucks besides getting killed in a roll over.

Nah bro u want 2 K swap it.
Yeah at this point from when it originally needed work, I've upped my space, equipment and software enough to where I could build the whole truck at my version of @beertimecontinuum DYF

I hope you know how ignorant of a post this is.

You do realize that the Geiser luxury prerunner approaches 1 mil in price, right? Even if @Caboose117 was into his truck $125, which I have no idea if he is or isn't, that wouldn't cover the maintenance & fuel cost alone of a tube chassis truck.

Who cares if he buys and sells parts. It's his project. It's his money. Let him make those decisions.

    I’m well.
The build is Never ending to say the least. Waiting on King to get my shocks to me like the rest of the country. Then install the front +4 LT by JDfab. Who knows from there.... probably a Ford 9 axle. As you know it never stops.

Current front is this bastardized setup
upload_2021-4-28_9-45-38.jpg Rear is currently DMZ SUA....the Rear plan is to try to get a full float 9 inch. But it depends on getting a rear speed sensor signal back to the trucks computers. Being 2wd I lose my speedometer and supposedly speed sensor info for the tranny. Plan is to try and tap the signal from the front sensors into the rear sensor wires and see how it behaves. Obviously I will completely disable the ABS system to keep it from trying actuate the brakes on the wrong wheels. I have a wire harness built up. Just gotta tap into the existing wires and see what happens.

That whole complicated mess with the speedo was a major thought in my plans
And is honestly what was the first reason I started debating the motor swap in my plans a few years ago.
It just ended up being more financially sound to just find a junk 6.0 or buy a 6.0 and run Holley stuff just so you could use the right drivetrain parts like the beefy housings

    I’ve got a camburg 3.5 for mine
But have debated selling it since the person building the truck REAAAAALY wants me to have a tig blitz housing :bananadead::boink:

every time we talk he’s like
Sooooo.... mig stufff is okay but tig:deadhorse:

    Lol
    Oh wait
I forgot I’m not supposed to sell stuff

edit: every time it’s moved in the last few years
It seems someone would like to build it a bit different for one reason or another based on their experience
Like fuel cell against the back of the cab or in the booty
And shocks outside of the cab vs inside the cab
    And still accommodating 4 seats
