o_O the 2021 SR crew cab has auto climate!?

Found a new SR for 34K v6 4x4 crew cab. If I break even on selling my current truck and getting into that, or even make a few bucks, I might do it. Loses the power sliding rear window, that's the only thing I'd be sad to lose  I get to keep everything else I use and then some. Chances are I can get them down a bit on it, too....I'm intrigued to say the least.

I would have to factor in $2310 in sales tax (if it goes at 33) regardless though. Honestly if they can get me a good number at trade in I wouldn't even be against that either, even if I lose a few hundred net, I'm resetting the clock to zero miles and years. And getting the manual seats I want  would need a new remote start though I wouldn't be able to transfer that, but everything else would.

    :headbang:

The time I spend on the Ford forum tends to agree with you, most of the common issues are related to the fancy shit. The most worrisome is the push button tail gate either failing to open, or opening on it's own. If I can help it, I'll stick with a manual tailgate as long as I own a truck! The others seem to be the massage seats, the seat cooling, issues with the panoramic sun roof either leaking or not closing, issues with the big, touch screen displays, etc. Obviously, some do experience more major issues, but they don't seem to be common on the Super Duty.

My tailgate has been okay so far on mine. A friend has had issues with his Silverado one, though - it doesn't operate if it gets too cold and once he closed it with something long in the bed that kept a bit of pressure on it and it was too much for it to release.

Seat cooling was a problem from 15-17 if I recall correctly where they used a TED to make the seats truly air conditioned. In 18 and up they are considered just "ventilated" like most manufacturers and rely only on fans. I hadn't seen anyone else who had a bad fan, so I think mine was a bit of an anomaly there.

I love that giant sunroof but if I got a crew cab I think I'd look for one without it because I don't want to deal with the potential issues.

Yeah I specifically stayed away from the dual panel sunroof for the issues I read about. And the last one I had in a vehicle, it failed miserably, so I'm good.

Sunroofs aren't worth it, same boat as pools for me in new england. they're cool but for how much use you get, lose the headroom and added complexity. Nah.

Now I'm really itching for that SR swap I was talking about  I gotta get under and clean up the mud.

Would be a benefit too - I'm about to swap my diff oils and probably rolling up on brakes and probably tires at the end of the season. Would be awesome to bail out entirely and not need to deal with any of that stuff

I’m with you, Toyota has given up and what they have done isn’t any good since the 2nd gen came out. All cars will only get worse from everyone tho.

more forced tech is more bullshit and higher costs all while they spy on you so the cops can press charges if you crash

fuck the entire auto industry, I will be staying in early 2000s for the rest of my life.

wife doesn’t feel the same so she will continue to be fancy and monitored.

Yeah, I really like that they are specifically NOT tying the factory 4WD to trim package "upgrades" - I just hope that there will be a nice supply of base model 4WDs when it comes time to shop the used market.

    nice!

Best sleeper is Taurus SHO. Doesn't look anything like it can take off but those things can boogie. 350 some odd HP and TQ. Not that those are hold my beer territory, but baby's first camaro is something like 275.

But - as far as my truck endeavors, there's a chance I pitch it and then just buy some shit box corolla for the next few years. Wouldn't be as much fun though. But, I'll clean 'er up and put it up on facebook and see if anyone bites. If someone bites at 38 I won't think twice it's going. Anything less, it wouldn't be worth it in terms of transfer fees and taxes.

I’ve found a lot of enjoyment in my simpler easy to use 2003. Once you get rid of the distractions in the modern cars you can relearn why you loved to drive

I looked at a house with a very new above ground pool and they were using it as a selling point. I put in an offer not far off their asking price that was contingent on them removing and disposing of the pool. I don't even like water and like you said we live in New England. I want absolutely nothing to do with one. They didn't even respond to my offer.

I sort of want both - the Ford is super nice for long drives or for the commute to and from work. I would like a YJ or TJ as an old sort of primitive thing to drive around, but Jeeps hold their value too well for something that simple and unreliable.

Have you heard of Toyota's, they are primitive, simple, and reliable....

And expensive too! I figured an old Jeep would be cheap because they don't have the reliability of a Toyota, but nope.

Last I looked, the only 4Runners that were at the price point I'd consider for a second vehicle were getting awfully rusty and approaching 300,000 miles.

For a secondary beater vehicle I wasn't too concerned about reliable but it seems eliminating that factor doesn't even drop the price. Maybe when the used car market becomes sensible again.
