OVTune 3.5L Tacoma Supercharger and Twin Turbo Systems

this might sound silly and apologize in advance. when i was reinstalling the y-pipe to down pipe, i was pretty exhausted and overlooked that the old gasket was still stuck in there and was trying to install the new gasket on top of it and it created the gap that you might be seeing.

 

No offense taken. I am sure this isn't the case however, I made sure to fit in the gasket.

I'd actually wondered if the gasket had slipped out of the groove or wasn't the proper size, tried one of the larger ones I had lying around and it was definitely too large, refitted the proper size...properly. Lol the gasket is also definitely getting sandwiched in there, the outside material sticking to the DP in the recessed space, even if the YP is loosened enough to slide away a bit.

 

I spend my days in zoom. Every day hurts lol

 

figured as much. it's little things that trip me up. for comparison, mine is pretty quiet at idle

 

Mine was quiet at idle before this issue too

 

Drill and through-bolt. Is that not an option?

Let the truck idle, and get a buddy to hold a bunch of old rags / towels over the exhaust pipe (alot, as it will get hot quick) while you get underneath the truck to listen for any leaks. You will hear them immediately if there are any.

 

Yes ^ this works. Best method I found tho is to stick a shop vac hose (put to blow not suck) up the tailpipe and use rags or tape it shut then use a spray bottle with dish soap and spray the suspected areas, this is how I’ve solved many exhaust flange leaks.
I also found that if those flanges are NOT seated correctly it will just destroy the gasket and bend the ears as you tighten down. You can tighten them until your arms fall off but you will still have a leak.

 

I have done this before in the past. Had to straighten out the flanges.

 

Myself a few times too unfortunately. Now I like to, mate up the flanges correctly, use vise-grips to squeeze/hold them in place then proceed to bolt up and tighten.

 

Also on today's episode of shit I didn't expect, I left work and started my truck and discovered that my CEL for the o2 sensors had cleared itself lol I guess those spacers with mini cats work after all

 

It's like I continuously trade one problem for another lmao

I really hope this kit stays available for a good couple years once it's available to everyone so I can get my hands on it when I can afford it.
Also @OVTune has anyone been testing the kit on a manual tacoma? Wondering how the clutch and transmission is holding up to the added power and what it's limits would be since my truck is a manual.

 

@Jrgymie and I have MTs with the kit. I can't speak for him but I have the base kit with no fueling upgrades and I haven't had any slippage. Yet. Lol.

3k miles on the kit, plenty of heavy/full throttle driving.

 

Thats awesome man not gonna I'm quite jealous, but nonetheless glad your enjoying the kit and that so far your not having any issues with clutch or Trans. How's the power feel with the manual and any vids of pulls? be awesome to see
