Exactly what @Doc62 said. Added Homelink. It was a gift from my dad. He has a 2018 TRD Sport and my brother-in-law has a 2016 TRD OR, so buying Taco parts for each other has become a thing... No complaints here!

Well yesterday re-installed JBA UCA's due to powder coating flaws and also found the ball joint boots were trashed. I had a nice talk with JBA when getting the RMA replaced and found out about the boot issues they were having. My replacements came with the OEM boots and washer spacers. Moar things on their way :)

I could be wrong... but I don't think you're supposed to use the washers under that style of ball joint boot...

Well per the instructions and explanation I was given. I was told that the longer boot JBA developed has had production quality issues causing them to fail so the are using the short OEM boot. https://support.jbaoffroad.com/faq/why-2-washers-on-the-ball-joint

EDIT: I believe this is the way they were sold originally prior to designing their own longer boot.

Gotcha. I have a set of replacement ball joints... but apparently I have version 2, and they're now on version 3. :annoyed:

    Traded it in.
I've had the same cover on my truck for just over a year now, and it still looks the same as day 1 and have never had any issues with it.

Hey all, sort of random question. Does anyone know if there is a method to attach a bracket with a similar finished look to how hood-mounted ditch lights are placed, but mounting the bracket to the engine compartment so it is "fixed"?

I get there may not be a bracket currently in existence, but I am looking to do something like I described. Checking out the hood/engine bay myself, it's not readily apparent that this would be possible.

If this isn't clear, I can try to provide a photoshopped example.

TRD emblems, tinted windows, OEM running boards, AVS vent shades, RMAS upgrade, LED lights in front and rear, interior LED lighting upgrade, LED lighting in bed, touch control dash mount for LED lighting, auxillary 12v and USB jacks in bed, replace all speakers with Infinity, custom mod with Bose tweeters, TRD Pro illumination mod...
What are you installing on this bracket?

I am just about to install ditch light brackets that I have had finished in Line-X. They will never rust.

I'm thinking of trying to get a bracket manufactured to mount a license plate. Simply propping it in the window seems dangerous/illegal, so this seems like a good compromise, assuming it could float above wipers, and be solid enough to not rattle constantly.

If designed well enough, maybe it could even support horiz/vert configuration based on preference. But I can't really find a spot to mount to something fixed rather than the hood itself. If mounted on the hood you'd need to remove the plate each time you wanted to open it, especially if using hi-rise struts.

Are there not bi-laws that prevent anything from obscuring the driver's view.
This is what I have for my front plate.

Maybe, but I'd fight that in court, because all it'd really obscure in that position is the hood.

I installed the License Plate Lights Disable in Reverse mod today. @daveeasa 's harness is OEM quality and the install is an easy plug and play. Fast, useful mod to give you better visibility on the back-up camera at night.

Wondering if anyone has ever tried to, or knows of anyone who has tried to, been able to successfully get wrangler style tube bumper (like the smittybilt pictured here) on their 3rd gen tacoma before? Honestly, I saw the Back to the Future build that Tacoma did and have been obsessed ever since. Any and all ideas welcome.
