As usual, with every vehicle, maintenance is key.

I just got a card in the mail yesterday from Toyota that says they want to spray some junk on the frame.

17's are inspection only, they just got drafted in with the 12-16 models. Either way do it, it gives you a 10 year warranty extension.

It says application of compound on my card and frame replacement if required under Program ZKA.

If I’m not mistaken, they are putting those plastic tabs in the front of the frame as well.

I believe you are correct as l recall reading something about that. The newer Tacoma's already have those plugs installed from the Factory.

The card does say specific cold climates with high salt usage.

Yes, the 18s and up came with the plugs from the factory.

Not quite. Mine had CRC sprayed from the factory so the 10 years only applies from the in service date which, for mine was 2016. They'll be able to tell if it was sprayed from the factory by VIN.

Not really an issue. No more than any other vehicle, in my opinion. My frame still pretty much looks brand new and it has spent its whole life in the rust belt. I have no idea if the previous owner did any sort of rust protection, but I did this year.

My dealership explained that in 2008-09-ish, they were having to write checks for relatively new trucks to buy them back and send them to the crusher. They said it has been a long time since they've seen that and they have yet to see any late 2nd gens or 3rd gens even come close to needing a frame replacement.

My 16 went in for the internal frame coating and frame caps. The tech looked at the overwhelming amount of FluidFilm and said it looks coated enough before slapping the caps on. Glad they didn’t do anymore than that.

I just took my truck to the dealer last week for a HPFP and this recall and all they did was put caps on the frame. No goop on my truck.

It will be forever, unless you vacuum seal the entire vehicle and place it in an airtight container.

You only get the goop on a 2017 if your don’t have have the factory black silicone between the inner and outer layers of the frame (so I was told by the dealer). Mine had the black silicone, so I got the plastic caps but no splooge.

Fine by me, I just wanted the extended warranty. Caps I could do with or without. I just wanted no splooge.

I have a one splooge rule in my truck. It must be respected.

So a 2016 should get goop?
