Question. So I replaced the alt to fuse box with 2 gauge, sounds like you went straight to the battery, so did you run nothing back to the fuse box?

Oh sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you meant you changed to a 3-wire alternator, not just changed the wires

Isnt that just determined by the pads on the alternator? At some point its definitely because of power draw but Sometimes even completely stock its lower in the 13.5 range?

So I noticed it starts to drop as soon as the RPMs drop below 700. Does your truck idle lower than 700 ?

Too many trucks and mods to list.. check builds
The voltage dropping to 13.5ish at idle once the trucks warm and the battery is charged is normal. Anything below 13 I’d say would be concerning

you have a good battery for sure? Has it been tested for a bad cell? All connections are solid? There is also the possibility the alternator is just weak.. warranty that one out maybe? A lot of variables exist

Battery is good newish 2x power agm . I didn’t have this issue pre big 3 upgrade it was always 14.2 volts but I’ve gone through every connect to double check i don’t see any issues. Not sure what could have changed

What I would do, if you still have them of course - put the stock wiring back in and see if you can reproduce the drop off. If you can, then you know its your 'upgraded' wiring.

I know that sounds like crap but it will either rule out the wiring upgrade or confirm it to be the issue. PITA but will give you an answer.

Yeah I was thinking about that. It really wouldn’t be terrible, start with just the alt wire. I really can’t see how that would be the issue being that the drop is very dependent on the rpms. But maybe it’s worth a shot

What kind of wire was used when you upgraded? A lot of wire out there is copper clad aluminium.. that could be an issue.

Also with the x2, you may want to look into a voltage booster on top. Of all this. I think 14.7 is the ideal voltage

Its tedious but something I picked up in the good ol' QA test days. First item on the list, reproduce the issue.

I saw the 'voltage transfer' and just jumped on it :anonymous:

Yeah, you're right. lol. I still like to read all the shit reviews. Still, you never know when dealing with Amazon or Fleabay. :notsure:
