DE178BE5-C0D3-47D9-94C3-6B613C7F340F.jpg I’m attempting to get this slightly scuffed Tacoma to factory configuration. What I need to know is how the bumper cover is held onto the truck. I see the upper bar it seems to be attached to and I have remnants of some end brackets but I don’t see anything on the bottom. What keeps it hooked to the end of the frame rails?

Second question: how far apart are the rails supposed to be? Mine were pulled inwards and appear to have been straight originally. I can straighten them myself but don’t want to overpull them.

Third question. Where are the airbag sensors in this truck? Bags never went off in either wreck.

I bought the truck wrecked so I’m missing parts. DE178BE5-C0D3-47D9-94C3-6B613C7F340F.jpg

Edit: does the bottom of the bumper cover attach to the curved (bent)piece in this picture somehow?

Nope. The two "front bumper arms" in the diagram mount to the outer sides of the frame (in front of the cab mounts) and then two studs from the bumper on each side go into them. Nothing connects to that center piece. I believe it's just for structural strength.

Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like your frame is bent inward on the passenger side, and is torn apart from the cab mount. That would be something that I would fix first.

There’s a few dumb little brackets too. It’s a pia. I wish there was an affordable aftermarket solid bumper to replace the whole mess with. Those fancy armor style bumpers are way out of my price range

Workin on it! Luckily all the damage is forward of the suspension mounting points. Looks like the hog hit that crossbar and it pulled the frame horns inward. Then the fence post hit directly on that mount and ripped it off the frame.

More than likely, the other way around. That brace across the middle is flimsy. You can pull it out with just your bare hands. The frame being hit on the corner most likely caused the center brace to bow inward. Either way, these trucks are worth fixing, so don't get discouraged! Good luck!

Yeah, I had a nice push bar setup on my 96 and this gizmo looks like a mosquito would ruin it. I’m starting to think about building my own bumper once things get all straight.
