Sasquatchian - I agree with your experience so far on my new Tacoma system. Overall it sounds really great. It does seem to not have the same, very low frequency extension I am able to get from my old Tacoma that I simply replaced the JBL factory sub with a Fosgate 8" in the original factory box and just amplified it with a separate Fosgate amp and LOC setup. The bass in my old Tacoma just seems to be able to go lower and sounds "warmer". I still have the old Tacoma, so I am not just saying this from memory. I can play the exact same tracks and tell the difference.
That being said, the new OEM+ setup is quite a bit better than my old setup in every other way. It is much, much cleaner/clearer, and "tighter" sounding. It may just be my ears adjusting, but it does seem to sound better as time goes on, too.

I also echo your customer service experience with Daniel. If I were closer to CA, I'd stop by and ask to buy that guy a cold one.

Heads up to those of us with the SOS - got the link to the instructions today for the speaker relocation. It is WAAAAY more complex than I anticipated. They really put some thought into where this thing would go and how to get it there. I am impressed................but it's going to take more than a few minutes to put it in, so take a look:

I got the email from Daniel early this morning with the SOS bracket install instructions. I took the bracket out to the truck yesterday and had no clue where it went. It made me feel better when I realized that I would have never figured out where it mounted without the instructions.

OEM is very professional, their video instruction installing their system is 2nd to none. That was a lot of thought, effort and work to make that bracket.

And finally we get an excellent video of removing the glove box, I read posts on how-to's but I find it more comforting seeing how it done on video.

Good question. I had originally thought one sub would be just fine..........and it probably is...............but I never seem to know when to quit...........

I checked the fitment on my SOS speaker and relocation bracket and it was tight but it fit.

Do you experience the lumbar switch activation cutting out the sound? I notice it 100% of the time now if the lumbar switch is pressed to inflate when it is already at its limits. Not a big deal but something I noticed.

I don't have the lumbar switch in my 18. I have a adjustment wheel.

For those of you who have paid for and installed the new OEM 2020-2021 system in truck, how much of an improvement is there between the JBL? Is it worth over $3k it will take for me to purchase the unit and pay someone to install it? I am looking for something that will punch the lows hard like most aftermarket $3k stereos can do while also exceptionally improving the mids and highs. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to keep it private. Thanks in advance!

Wife asked me the other day to upgrade her new Lexus Mark Levinson system after hearing the Taco’s OEM Audio+ upgrade!

I think you can get better sound from a 3k aftermarket system. I believe the selling point is the ease of installation and usage the oem head unit

After spending a lot of time researching and customizing an install for my wife’s new Lexus just to add a better sub, I found myself appreciating the OEM solution more. Granted I am only spending 1/3 the amount, but I’m only upgrading the sub. I would pay more for the factory look and at least equal performance I’d get from OEM if they had a sub only option for her car. I’m happy with the OEM product.

I agree with terraj66. Integration and the homework already being done are the key points. That and no real permanent mods to your truck that you’d get with aftermarket typically. Performance is also just as good as long as you would be keeping the same size speakers. not going with trying to compare a 10 or 12 sub to the 8 because you’d obviously get more bass out of a well powered, larger sub if you’re dropping that kind of cash.

For those of you who have installed them, please tell me if you believe it is worth a $3k upgrade from the JBL system. I have a 2020 Pro and am thinking of picking a system up. $3k is a lot of money so I am hoping there is significant improvement??? Thanks!
