It wasn’t me. When I did mine I slapped a piece over the hole (closest to the cab) where the speaker goes, cut the circle out, and then took that circle piece and slapped it inside of the cavity directly behind where the speaker goes. Then, I put a few more sections on the inner skin of the door closest to the cab.

I also put some Noico closed cell foam on the backside of the door panel itself. Probably not needed but I had it left over from when I put it on the back wall. Figured I might as well use it

    Hopefully that makes sense.

Yeah. I’ve only ever done it one time but done a few basic systems for myself and friends.

    Couple words of advice:
    1. Wear gloves. The aluminum on the sound deadening material will cut your hands. Not huge gashes or anything, but fine cuts. Either that or I just have soft ass hands. Lol. Either way, gloves won’t hurt.
    2. For the love of god don’t put it on in the middle of summer unless you’re in a garage or in shade. The only other time I did sound deadening was like 15 years ago and I did the entire inside of my car. Literally everything except for the roof. I did it with no shirt on, in the middle of summer in SC. The sun reflecting off of the aluminum gave me a gnarly sunburn. Haha

I plan on doing it in my garage in the next few weeks, so staying warm will be the bigger concern. Good tip on the gloves, though I do have some good ones I generally wear anytime I’m working on the vehicles.

A quick question? Do you have an idea where to tap a powered sub woofer? ( rear speaker or front ) - 2020 SR5 non JBL 8" Gracenote. Thank you :)

gracias. I changed my rear speakers ( kickers) and not much sound coming out from the rear speakers. I was thinking because it is a powered sub the source is negligible?

Source is never negligible. Source might be one of the most important things actually.

Hello I have my JL audio sub signal coming off of my rear passenger speaker. I know everyone says not to do it but I have the kicker key amplifier and increased the gain on the rear and it works fine.

    Sorry so late

using the 180, 200 or 500 Key, do we really need an active LOC since the 180/200 are somewhat plug/play dsp tuning amps?

Don’t need an active LOC (or even a passive one) for any of the Key amps

I have just the Kicker key180 and it made a world of difference. I was just about ready to buy a head unit

Question for everybody that has replaced all 4 (or 6) speakers and added a 4-channel amp - does adding an amp regulate the volume going to the rears to bring them up to the level of the fronts? I'm not understanding if it's a power issue or some sort of volume setting on the OEM Entune head unit that causes the volume to be so low in the rears, though I do know that's just the way Toyota designed it (!!!???). I've just replaced the fronts with Kicker CSC6934s and the tweeters with the Subaru kickers, and I would love to replace the rears but wanted to first confirm that adding an amp will actually fix the volume issue in the rears by leveling out the power and that it's not just some factory setting that would require some sort of tap into the fronts or LOC workaround that could start getting fairly complicated to fix.

The rears are just very low output from the radio. No settings to adjust or anything.

adding an amp will increase the volume back there significantly because you can set the gains slightly higher than the front channels.

'need help and advice. 8" entune (gracenote stock head unit)

I changed all my 4 speakers with kickers and tweeters ( Subaru )
    Night and day sound difference.
Now i need a sub to round up everything.
Since the rear speakers are low input. Can I tap the front speakers as a source for a powered sub woofer?
    Thank you :)

Yes the front speakers are preferred for signal
