It should be, but I believe your MT drain and fill are on different sides?

I’m just about at 10k miles and want to do these fluid changes. There are a ton of opinions on what oil to use. Are Redline and Amsoil pretty much the same? I used Redline in my 04 years ago with no problem but see a lot of Amsoil usage on here too. I also read East Coast Gear and they recommend Lucas with a differential viscosity as the Toyota manual has. I don’t tow, just a daily driver with occasional off road usage. Thanks.

Im a man of my word. After almost 2 years and 30K miles with Mobil 1 75W-90 in my transfer case I did another change today at 60K miles. Never had any issues but decided to replace it with Redline MT-LV 70W. When I changed the fluid at 30K i installed a trail toys transfer case drain plug magnet that was mostly clean on this change. Oil looked almost like the day I put it in. Blackstone analysis of the 75W-90 coming 20210405_123416.jpg 20210405_123442.jpg 20210405_123948.jpg Screenshot_20210405-135956_Video Player.jpg

Ok boys here's the science. After 30K miles apparently no sign of issue with 75W/90 SmartSelect_20210429-111314_Acrobat for Samsung.jpg

    What'd use?
Do you have an LF uoa to compare it to?
Your copper and iron are pretty high...
Toyota LF voas show iron @ 2ppm and copper @ 0ppm

    UOA-used oil analysis
    VOA-virgin oil analysis

New unused Toyota LF fluid has 2 parts per million iron and 0 parts per million copper.

Your used fluid has 63 parts per million iron and copper.

The question is 63 ppm normal after 30,000. Without a LF UOA, no one knows.

Well the report says average is 151 copper 89 iron so I feel pretty good about it. I have redline 70W in there now I'm planning on testing it in 30K miles so I guess I'll post here again after another 2 years or so

Guess we could compare it with someone running the stock fluid, any one on here ever get their first 30K oil analyzed?

Are the universal averages from 2nd Gen(75W90) or 3rd Gen(LF)?

BS labs is a bit misleading. Those really are not statistical averages of the same fluid, same viscosity, same application, etc. It's a fuzzy guideline average. Neat, but not bank.

I would say though, the report is just fine. 63 ppm, in use for 30K miles? NOTHING. Nothing to worry about. Even a few hundred PPM I would NOT be worried............maybe some concern at 300-400 ppm+. I would also say any of us using MT fluid, light gear oil, etc, are just fine.
