Clutch creak

I've been bugging the dealership about the clutch pedal squeak problem for several months, and they haven't been able to fix the problem. Today they said that Toyota corporate is supposedly finally working on getting a solution for it soon. Who knows.

The service manager at the dealership also decided to close my Reviewing Order (RO?), and said that there was "no problem found." When I called him he said that Toyota is "aware of the problem" and that everything "will be taken care of."

 

My solution = a shot of white lithium grease every few months during the warm months. It doesn't really squeak during the cold months.

 

Tighten the nut below that metal shaft. Squeak/creak will be gone.

 

I think I'm going to try different kinds of grease. "Toyota's" grease didn't work, neither did WD-40.
Tightening the nut only works for like 5 minutes. Oh yeah and mine squeaks in cold weather too.

 

Huh, the nut tightening thing works for months on my truck.

 

Wait what do you mean by tightening? Not just turning the entire shaft?

 

I spin the nut counter clockwise by hand as tight as I can get it. I've tried using pliers but it's a tight fit. Spinning the nut clockwise pushes the shaft thingy against the pedal more snug so there's no squeaking as the pedal slides on the shaft.

 

Hmm when I turn it as far as I can, it always turns back by itself once the clutch is depressed. Maybe I'm just not turning it hard enough.

 

Try to get pliers or a wrench in there and crank on it. Mine also spins back a little but not to much.

 

Mine squeeks too but has been good since it got cold out. Dealer has greesed it a few times now. Almost as anoying and now replaced by the fan motor squeek. I guess one relieves the other and I get no relief.

 

My '09 had this problem. Grease it, tighten the nut... it eventually comes back.

 

Every couple of months I have to re tighten the nut

What kind of grease should I use?

 

Sprayed a tiny bit of white lithium grease, squeak is all gone! And the pedal even FEELS smoother now too.

My 2010 had 4950 miles on it when I took it in for it's first free service. When I walked into the service department, the first thing I mentioned to the service manager was that my clutch pedal squeaked. The response I received from the service manager made me quickly realize that I had an endless battle ahead of me. I will deal with my squeaky clutch pedal another time, it is quiet now thanks to the cold weather. If it annoys me again this summer I may complain to the service department again.
