When they say something voids your warranty

    Makes sense for the warranty.

Sounds like these are not truly rated for towing. I'm just looking for something rated for towing available in Canada and having a hard time.

Are you talking flat towing your tacoma behind something?

Can not do that with an auto trans taco.

No sorry I meant recovery points. I am new to 4x4 terminology.

I will eventually get an aftermarket front bumper but for now I would like more than just the one hook for recovery on the passenger side.

You could probably have someone fab up a similar product out of their own project cut-offs. It doesn't look very complicated.

Small piece of square tubing cut in half and 6-ish inches of flat metal

    ...if only I had a welder...:pout:

I'd say your on the right track there. I personally think its a good idea and even when you get your aftermarket bumper you can still leave this on to add
to the recovery-ability of the truck...

Those are all sales from Amazon. No worries about warranty. I highly doubt they're strong enough to cause damage to the truck. My bet I they'll fall off way before that...
(Still need to confirm that though)

    again, i said it looks like those. a lot of us participated in a conversation a few months back and we kind of narrowed down that they're a bitch sketchy. b̶u̶t̶ ̶m̶i̶n̶d̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶t̶h̶a̶t̶'̶s̶ ̶a̶l̶l̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶o̶r̶y̶c̶r̶a̶f̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶w̶e̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶'̶t̶ ̶b̶e̶l̶i̶e̶v̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶n̶e̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶u̶s̶ ̶t̶e̶s̶t̶e̶d̶ ̶i̶t̶.̶ ̶w̶e̶ ̶j̶u̶s̶t̶ ̶w̶e̶n̶t̶ ̶o̶f̶f̶ ̶p̶h̶o̶t̶o̶s̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶h̶o̶w̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶l̶d̶s̶ ̶l̶o̶o̶k̶e̶d̶.̶

they could be perfectly fine for all we know. there seems to be a thread here; https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/demon-hooks-anyone-try-them.647227/

Edit: apparently @19Canuck has used them

I would not recommend them for heavy recoveries. I got them to have something in the front just in case until I put a decent bumper.

Damn, my internet connection is slower than my driving today.... :anonymous:

    Yeah agreed with that.

@Pat613, it's a system that is better than nothing. it's usable, and since you're just starting out with 4x4 and offroad stuff - they will be enough for 90% of recoveries.
i would also recommend getting something for the rear as well.

    https://www.4wheelparts.ca/p/smitty...d-d-ring-shackle-black-29312b/_/R-DSBP-29312B

you could get away with shoving the recovery line into the hitch reciver and using the pin to secure it. but this might be a little easier. (also comes with a bow shackle that you can still use in the front mounts)

Did you pull the xj using only one of these points?

I see. I will do some more research and decide what to do for the front. Looks like people have success with them but I am easily sketched out so I might look for a local fab shop.

You must have been...didn't see you there!
    Lmao
In all seriousness..they will do in a pinch ...that was the strap doing the work...anything heavy duty which that was not...( demonstrates the kinetic strap) ...we would have done it completely different.
