Didnt get drawn for Montana big game.. so off to Colorado this year in hopes to get an OTC elk tag.

Question cause I cant seem to find it on Colorado's website.. can you get mule deer tags OTC for archery at the same time? I havent seen a clear cut answer but it seems like the regs on muleys are tighter than elk

Bummer. No there isn’t otc mule deer in CO. But you can try drawing tag in the same unit you want to elk hunt. There’s also left over tags in the summer in CO if you didn’t draw, that’s what I did last year.

Side note. I drew a Montana big game Combo, I’ll admit I did buy some preference points to make it happen.

No OTC deer of any type in Colorado. Primary draw is also passed, so you'll have to look for leftover.

There's always leftover tags for east of I-25, but you'd better know someone with land.

Yea I read online that elk archery otc in Colorado was unlimited in August.

honestly I put all my money on Montana so I’m fine with leftovers in Colorado. I’m trying to stick to archery but if I have to I’ll go back to 2nd rifle

Hey I’ve been looking at getting a new release. Looking for ideas. Any suggestions? I have experience with wrist releases and thumb releases, and don’t feel the need to move to a back tension release. Looking to keep it around $150ish maybe and leaning towards wanting another thumb release. That being said, the spot hogg wiseguy with BOA has seemed appealing too.

Check out Carter releases, the Wise Choice. Mine is a Nock2it, a 2 finger version of the wise choice.

Scott sigma is another good thumb release too. Don’t know of many that are closer to your budget though.

Had a blast at the Texas TAC event with my son. I got 1.5” from hitting the 12 ring on the carabou for a chance to win the truck, only a 112 yard shot. While on the nock on course my son and I met John Dudley, great man. Now that there’s no more foam to shoot, I’m a little bored at home. Too bad the next TAC events are sold out.

There you go! My boy is almost 9, have him at about 25 lbs draw. To get his arrows to stick in 3D targets I built his arrows with 300 grains up front.

Thanks man! there was two people that got the 12 ring this go around. Each one that hits it gets an entry to the final draw after the tour is over. Hope you have a good time this June!

I need to get him doing something to build his upper body strength. I put him on the weedeater a couple weeks ago, not sure if that helped him but it sure did me :D

Haha! I love giving my boy tasks a little to hard for him.

Every once in a while I’ll crank the limb bolts a 1/4 turn or so and sometimes he don’t notice. It takes time.

Running the weedeater is paying off I reckon. Went and picked up Cole’s bow today. He’s set on 21” draw length and pulling 24 lbs and doing good for a 9 year old. The picture with him standing there is his last shot from 10 yards.
