Those with Manual Transmission...why?

No. The gearing has been perfect for my needs. Just the ADM because the accumulator is utter BS, the 2LM because the reverse ratio is BS, and the stock knob was weaksauce for me.

 

I always hated that ugly stock knob, haha!

 

The Core shifter is offset to the left and a bit to the rear. Dealing with the shifter nazi that runs the place is an entire situation though.


With my seating position, I'm good with the reach to 5th. In my younger days driving more reclined, it would be a problem.

 

I loved this road. So much fun, and it was a beautiful day no less.

 

Oh man, this highway is a blast! Especially with MT and tight sport suspension, I feel like I’m in the NFS game, haha!

You don’t have big tires or anything, how come such low mpgs? I gotta drive very very aggressive to get 12.5.

 

It was fantastic. Took a side trip from Lillooet to Gold Bridge and did some camping out there, really want to go back and spend more time exploring BC. I was just short on time since the overall trip was running long.

What a silly excuse for buying an AT over an MT due to the possibility of breaking a limb and can't drive. Whether you are in a situation where you broke the limb and need to drive home from it, or broke the limb elsewhere and now find yourself unable to drive an MT is not a good excuse to buy an AT period. Get over yourself, life is not that hard.

All of these were MT, and I did some stupid shit when I was younger thus my INSAYN name. Not once did it ever cross my mind that I should be driving an AT "just in case". Twice now, I have broken a limb on the left side of my body and still managed to get home, and get on with life. The left foot was only a 6 week recovery (broke while running). The left knee was a 6 month mostly recovered recovery (dirt bike accident).

I have twice, not a big deal. You will figure it out.

BTW, you do know that you only need the clutch from a dead stop in most cases, after that you can rev match up or down to shift.

If you broke both legs or feet then you shouldn't be driving anyways, where would you be going? Are you that lonely, no friends, no family or significant other to help you out? If not you should definetely stick with an AT for your safety.

 

i've setup my truck kinda like a stock-ish mini trophy truck, or maybe more like an on/offroad kart. it likes to be driven aggressive for sure. i have no extra weight either, just the spare and a stereo. i've taken the challenge of high mpg before and went above 18.4 once or twice and it was so hard to do. i never cared much but now i can't care at all if i want to keep enjoying the thing.

There is so much to explore here, it’s crazy. Just the Fraser valley you can explore for weeks and it’s a tiny part of B.C. Ive been here for 20 years and I still have so much to see. I just wish I had more free time and money, haha!

I don't have a manual transmission, but I wouldn't mind one at times

 

Mine is an AT, but I was driving MTs for the previous 20 or so years. I always enjoyed the added precision of being able to select the best gear for the situation I was driving in, as well as the 'feeling more in touch with the vehicle' experience a MT provides.

I got away from the MT for health reasons. Both my wife and I have worsening issues with our knees, so at times driving an MT was proving difficult. While I prefer the MT, it wasn't worth making driving a pain inducing chore any more.

Long term recovery/pain will certainly dictate your options. I certainly hope you don't have to leave the Tacoma life anytime soon as well.

 

Same! I can usually manage one of the two, but not at the same time. Maybe next time I'm unemployed again.

 

I enjoy my MT for a couple reasons. I like that the manuals keep you honest. Off road I have nothing to blame for poor performance but my own driving and skills which push me to be better and improve. While sometimes traffic gets annoying, I've never found that it's taking anything away from my driving experience. I have also always been a traditionalist, so every vehicle I have owned is a manual. I use an auto for hauling hay and equipment around then farm, but that's purely ease of access. I don't need to train more than driving with an extended trailer so new hands.

Last summer I’ve spent quite a bit of time at Harrison lake. 100s of miles of FSRs, beautiful spots and fun off-roading. That chehalis lake was beautiful too, pretty tight getting there. Going back to Harrison lake area again this year, so much to see there. Thank god my wife is into camping haha!

 

There's a youtube van lifer I watch on occasion who's constantly bagging peaks up there, its like he'll never run out.

Camping on crown land is so nice too, especially during non-fire restriction times.
