A little over a week ago I met up with @HCFR TACO22 and had him install the KDmax 6.0 tune in my 2016 OR. For starters he's a cool dude, went out of his way to get me worked me in to his schedule the next day and didn't break my truck, so, all in all 12/10 experience there. Since then I've put close to 1k miles on the truck, so I've got some decent seat time with it. As far as the tune goes.... It's not even the same truck. Between the Smart Cap and other gear I keep with me, I'm constantly carrying around an extra ~500 lbs, plus 285 E rated Cooper STT Pros. With the addition of all the power sucking shit, the truck had managed to transcend lackluster performance and become a real pig. My hopes for this tune were that it would at least prolong me having to go to 4.88's or 5.29's and it definitely did that and then some. I can see where this tune on a stock truck with lighter tires would be pretty gnarly. I @HCFR TACO22 do the 91 octane KDmax tune with gear lock and light throttle.

    > I don't know if the truck is actually making more power or just utilizing its power better, but, either way, it feels as though it has noticeably more power. The truck accelerates notably faster.
    > Gear lock... It's awesome. I got it mainly for towing, however, I find my self driving around with it because its just kinda fun.
    > Overall shifting is improved immensely. It just does everything better than stock... It feels like it's shifting like it should now, holding gears for the appropriate amount of time, shifting when it should and not shifting when it shouldn't. Shifting feels smoother as well.
    > With 285 and stock gearing, 6th gear is still pretty unusable, however, this is obviously no fault of the tune.

Overall I'm really happy with it and I'd say its probably the best money I've spent on this truck dollar for dollar. It's made the truck not just drivable again, but fun to drive and given how much better it is with just the stock gears, it has me pretty excited to go to 5.29's and hopefully, eventually, a super charger.

If you're in the Tampa Bay Area, I would highly recommend @HCFR TACO22. I met him in a gas station parking lot outside Westshore Mall, literally on my way to Highlands county to go hunting. Not only did he not murder me in a BP parking lot, my truck also didn't blow up in the middle of a mosquito ridden swamp 100 miles from home, and the tune made my truck substantially less shitty to boot so... Like I said earlier, 12/10 experience. Will tune again.

How does one turn on gear lock? In what scenarios is it best used for?

The regular KDMax tunes do not have GearLock.
    It is a special request.
Gearlock is activated with ECT + S mode
    With GearLock you loose ECT.
If you press ECT while in Drive, shifting is useless.

Sounds like an awesome use of the ECT button. Ive messed with it a few times and couldn’t tell if it did anything. With ECT off it would just shift like normal in sport mode?

I worry about a gear lock when lending out the truck, but if didn’t affect the non ECT mode it would be great.

With ECT off, yes it would shift like normal in Sport Mode and in Drive.

Crazy. I am getting 12-14 on short trips, not driving aggressively. First long road trip coming up in a week, so I'll be curious what I see then.

Regardless, unless it somehow stays around 12-13, which I'm sure it won't, I don't really care since this isn't an eco vehicle, and the driving improvements of the tune far outweigh mileage changes anyway.

When your tune was flashed were the LV and TC reset? Usually avoid that but if they were reset as part of your tune it may take 500-1000 miles before it settles back in and mileage improves.

No, the version of VF I have (second to newest - 1.2.9.9.6) doesn't even have that option anymore.

I was getting those numbers at first. I cleaned my battery terminals and did some maintenance. That cleared my learned values for the ECM. When I was done my mileage went up. At least for me

I don't even trust that Les Schwab can torque lug nuts, so paying for the peace of mind and having it documented at the dealership in case anything did happen was an easy choice for me. That sensor ties into alot of safety systems.

I met up with @dave5623 yesterday to get the KDM6 SLT installed on my Stock Taco. Want to give it 500-1K miles before doing a review. However initial impressions, this tune makes the truck feel and drive great! The SLT is nice for navigating parking garages. So far I am very impressed!

Also Dave was great to work with. Very responsive and willing to answer all my questions, great dude!

Thanks @PapaRee and @TWTaco for the great tune!

My Les Schwab is miles ahead of A Dealer. The Dealer can't even change oil without a problem.
