Glad to see you’re prepared and sounds like you’ve done the mind work/preparedness.
This last year I was coming back from an off-roading trip with my oldest daughter. It was after 7pm. Colorado did not have a bunch of issues with the riots. However, like my luck is at times, the one time the Highway got shut down from rioters, I was in it. I luckily had the bumper pull instead of the gooseneck trailers and had some mobility...but not a lot.

Had I been like this....not moving at all.

    F0D9C57C-F1AB-4504-9121-634A28B500C2.jpg

I had my G17 and 4 spare mags and had them ready. My daughter held on to two of them as we talked about what might happen. I had all plans of getting in the back with her and give it hell if someone started coming through the doors/windows. Best we could do.

Thankfully nothing happened and the police took care of the issue peacefully and the only thing that happened was we arrived home later.

the avg LEO may have "more time" with a pistol, but not necessarily more experience. Anyone else remember the guy that had the ND when showing his gun to a classroom full of kids? neither civilian nor vet has a monopoly on a case of the dumbass

Open carry in Florida is illegal in most instances with the exception of language in statutes allowing open carry when camping or fishing. Fla Legislature almost passed open carry a couple of years ago but just couldn't quite “pull the trigger” - pun intended. Personally, I prefer concealed carry anyway.

TX has OC of long guns, but only OC of handguns when you have an LTC. This year is the closest we have to constitutional carry, hopefully it passes

Yeah. This was just the preview. One can see exactly when he charged the weapon after showing it “empty” (mag still in), closed the slide, and wanted to discharge the striker. Oops.

Glocks...fire every time. Never had a FTF on one. Can’t say that about other weapons I’ve owned.

Most of it depends on how much range time the individual has had, how recently, and what type of range. Absolutely a quickly perishable skill. Handling a firearm smartly requires good training and putting lots of rounds through it regularly. Dumbassery can be poor judgment, lack of training / experience, or some combination of both. Safety complacency is definitely a real thing too. You read about it almost daily.

Here in Kentucky we have always had open carry and in glove box carry legally. The glove box in your car is considered an extention of your home. We have cdwp good in 35 states and recently passed in state constitutional carry. Its even against the law for an employer to forbid you from having a gun in your car on company property.

Have to agree.. My AF wife was deployed during Desert Storm... Deployed to the pubs in Germany and UK basically as she was a nurse... I had more rifle time at SWAT trainings than she did as enlisted...The military has a lot more faces than Rambo mullets with heavy machineguns...

In my day Qatar was a hazardous duty combat zone but military based there could not be armed unless military LE. Due to agreement with host country or due to cognizant service I never knew.

I live in Colorado and unfortunately we seem to be determined to stay at the top of the list of mass shootings. Columbine, Aurora, Boulder... It sucks that I feel the need to protect myself even when going to the grocery store, but that's the world we live in now.

We had an FBI agent dancing at a club try to do a flip and lose his concealed service weapon which hit the floor, went off, and hit a patron in the leg. And how many times had a cop shot someone and claimed they meant to taste them instead? LE does NOT automatically equal gun smarts...
