I hate the dumbass engineers that put a chrome Toyota emblem on the steering wheel instead of black

And those door handles, don’t even get me going

    So. Many. Stickers.
So the third gen has a full C light pattern, but the brake lights only use half of it and the tail lights only use half of it. They're also kind of pathetically dim. The meso light uses the full C, plus it uses an amber switchback bulb with the reverse light so your turn signal actually matches the rest of the truck's turn signals, it's a lot brighter and more visible, and it matches up with what's going on with the second gens with their amber light turn signals.

    Well said.

They could definitely be better, and the Meso mods are a huge improvement.

By default they really are very dim. Replacing the bulbs with LEDs was a giant upgrade. They're bright as hell, even the reverse which is really nice at night in dark places like camp sites.

I didn't go Meso, since my only goal was upgrading the lights and not to change the functionality. Went with Diode Dynamics and basically selected the highest power of each bulb offered. Besides the insane price tag for Pro housings + bulbs I have zero complaints.

Ohh gotcha, yeah the Meso lights do make more sense. I prefer Amber rear turn signals, much more visible to other drivers.

For me, it was about the potential confusion between the brake light half and the turn signal half. It gets me fired up when I see other 3rd Gens on the road. I've driven behind two with the @MESO Full "C" kits and it looks proper with zero potential confusion.

Our old car was called the Target because it was hit so many times. It had normal brake lights and amber turns along with side marker turns, but still, I didn't want to risk that shit with the Taco.

My only concern with MESO total tails is that the bulk isn’t super secured. In hindsight I might have preferred the 3 female OEM connectors snapping into total tail males secured to the top stud. Then separate feeds to the taillight which matches the OEM harness so it can secure in the channels. Might add a little cost but it’d be a cleaner finished product.

    Good point.

I got the prototypes that @NoOne cut long for testing. Wrapped them with friction tape. When packed in the bucket area, they aren't giggling around.

I'm still running incandescents in all three spots, but I have been thinking about converting to switchbacks for the signals.

I don't mind the wiring harness in there myself, it tucks in pretty neat and there isn't really any rattling or movement. And it has just enough wiggle room that I can adjust it as needed and nothing is taught or tight if I need to pull the light
