Looks great man... Although for future reference I would recommend goo gone as opposed to goof off as it's not solvent based and easier on the clear coat.

I dunno, you’d have to try it.

What I do know is that there is a heat gun in my toolbox and the hair dryer is in my wife & daughter’s labyrinth bathroom

I started a corner with a fingernail on my TRD stickers, and just grabbed em and pulled em right off. Not a spec of residue, but mine was only a couple weeks old. If you do it before the sun really bakes them on, they come off super clean and easy. Didn’t replace them with a new sticker, I like the clean look better personally.

Oh come on, you should have both. Haha. For the garage hair dryer I went to Goodwill. I also have a heat gun. Right tool for the right job.

One suggestion for anyone applying decals is to spray the surface lightly with water prior to applying the decal. Once you properly place your decal, then squeeze the water out with a squeegee. This allows you to adjust the position if necessary and allows you to remove all the air bubbles.

Goo gone has methl ether and kerosene in it, so maybe not solvent based also not solvent free and it also has citrus extract so maybe acidic? Either way, better than goof off with acetone and several other solvents in it. The type of solvent makes a difference, too. Acetone will dissolve most automotive finishes, while toluene will not though it may dull the luster. Isopropyl alcohol is usually safe and effective for softening sticker adhesive. Also, op used paper towel which will scratch the shit out of paint. Might be of no consequence if it was completely covered by the new decal. Microfiber cloth is better choice for anything touching the paint.

Honestly the heat gun worked great for me, and my toolbox is stocked just how I like it. I appreciate the feedback!

This is a really nice write-up. Followed much of what you did when I did my custom decal, but this is sure to help others. I think the use of the vertical strips would've helped me get it perfectly straight.

    Great job!

It could look pretty cool if you did the decal in matte white so it was like a ghost effect of the matte white on the gloss white

The tape strips help a lot, if I didn't use the tape it would be just a little off and every time I looked at my truck i would notice the not level decal lol

When I do stickers (for a living) I use a handheld digital thermometer to make sure I don't overheat the paint :)

I just use that Turtle Wax spray on wipe off stuff on mine. Seems to work great.
