I had the opposite the other day. Customer wanted base cabinets that are 40" tall instead of the normal 36". He had the cabinets themselves made without toe kicks. My plan was to grab some 2x8 Timberstrand LSL and build a platform with it. I want it because it's straight as can be so when the toe skins go on life will be easy.

So I go down to the local lumber yard to grab it. They have none. I asked when they could get it and they said 4-6 weeks. WTF? Ended up getting the very last 4 pieces from another local yard. Shit is crazy right now with lead times.

The cost of shipping containers has gone WAY up too with the backlog of containers sitting in Asia etc North America is in a pretty bad supply situation. I'm not sure if useable seaworthy containers and the ones used for storage on site are affected the same, but I know the ones we use at my company for shipping product worldwide have gone up 400% since pre-pandemic.

Any help? I’m replacing the light switches in my laundry room. One works the laundry room light the other my back porch light. I sware I’ve got it wired just like it was before. I’m replacing the outlets because they were yellow before and I want white switches. The right side switch has a wire that goes from one switch then to the other. I’ve replaced switches before and never seen one like this.

Probably just put them both on one circuit. Not a big deal. Are the switches working after you wired them up?

Yes one switch controls both inside and outside light now. Where before one switch controlled each light.

trying to wire it back like it was. One for the inside light. One for outside.

    A thing or two...
I met with the insurance adjuster today, and they're replacing the house and shop roof due to hail damage.

I also have a claim going for my pool equipment that froze during the snowpocalypse earlier this year. The adjuster said he's never done a claim on pool equipment, so he has to do some research on how to estimate it.

FWIW, I've bought 1 Pentair and 1 Hayward variable speed pool pump in the past couple of years. The Pentair digital screen doesn't hold up in sunlight even with a sunshade covering the equipment. The screen eventually goes bad like a calculator in the sun and costs 3/4 the price of a new pump. After dealing with warranty claim issues we bought a Hayward variable speed pump for our rental. I'd highly recommend you avoid Pentair anything, but that's just my opinion. I'd also recommend this pool vac if you need a new one:

Wow There's a lot not to like in those pictures.

Step 1: turn off the power at the breaker

    Step 1a: call an electrician

Step 2: don't want to do that (Safety tip. When working with live electrical circuits keep one hand in your pocket and wear rubber soled shoes. If you touch a live wire with one hand, you'll get an unpleasant shock, but it won't kill you. Grab a hot line with one hand and the ground with another could suck for your widow.)

Step 2a: get some wire nuts and about 16" of #14 wire. I can see the white romex cover in the box. If the house isn't too old that means #14. But, if the house is built in the mid 90's or older it could be #12. What ever it is it must match the gauge of the existing wire. The wire nuts should be the appropriate size for the number of wires you're going to put in them. (all of this stuff is available at your local big blue or orange box store.)

Step 3: identify the hot line and load wires. I count 4 black wires coming from the wall. That tells me that in addition to the two lights there is another junction box down the line.

Step 3a: profit ??? I can't tell you the pro's determine which lines are which. It's a good guess that the hot line and load wire to the next junction box is going to the bottom lug of the switch The way I'd do it is stupid and dangerous and you could die, burn your house down, die and burn your house down or kill the cat. But having done more switches that I can remember, here's the stupid, dangerous, Darwin Award winning way I'd do it. (is that a good enough warning safety nannies?). After turning on the breaker I'd use my voltage detector to see which lines are hot. (this is the one I use https://www.amazon.com/Klein-Tools-...id=1619825735&sprefix=voltage+,aps,216&sr=8-5 ) Then after turning the breaker off I'd remove the black wires that were hot in the previous step and make sure they are well separated and not touching anything. Then with the cat, kids, wife, dog and safety nanny goat bared from the room I'd turn on the breaker. Using the voltage detector I'd confirm which is the hot line. There should only be one. If there are multiple hot lines turn off the breaker and go directly to step 1.

Step 3b: With the hot line wire identified the question remains which are the load lines for the lights and which is the load for the next junction box. I would turn off the breaker and using a wire nut I would connect one of the black wires from the top lug to the hot wire. Turning on the power again one of the lights should turn on, note what happens and then turn the power off. Remove the wire nut, rinse and repeat with the remaining lines. At the end of this you should know which ones are light loads and which goes to the next junction box.

Step 4: Make a 2 ended pig tail with the hot lines. This video give you the idea; https://youtu.be/pvmD0qjGUBM. In the wire nut will be two wires to connect to the bottom lug of the switch, the hot line and the load line for the next junction box. The hot line pig tail goes to the bottom lug and the light load lines got to the top.

Step 5: Carefully fit all of the wire and switches in the box, put the cover on, turn on the breaker, test that things work.

Step 6: Drink your favorite beverage and enjoy a job well done.

My current pump is a Pentair variable, but it has no screen (just buttons). My controller for the salt system is Hayward. An automatic cleaner came with the house. It's an Aquabot. I don't know how old it is, but it's pretty faded and the plastic is getting brittle.

nah it’s beyond that. We’re going to replace it, I think I’m going to build a metal/wire railing
