I honestly think either would be good. The key is prep and light coats. I think though, automotive paint might be less forgiving. Simply because of the texture of plastidip. It's not a lot but definitely more than automotive paint. I believe too that even a spray enamel might not be as durable as the plastidip. Here's why I say that. I was coming up the road up here doing 50 and a dove was in the road. It obviously wanted to commit suicide because as I approached and even let off the gas it flew up and the impact exploded it and it deformed the grill a little. It didn't however damage the plastidip one bit. Another example.....I just painted my Smittybuilt beaver tail the other day. I used farm equipment paint which is supposed to be able to withstand the abuse farm equipment sees. I did 4 coats over the course of two days, and both days it was hot as shit, nearly 80. It hung outside overnight and then in full sun. So essentially baked and cooled each day. I hang my parts I paint with cargo straps, not the ratchet type, just the cinch type with the smaller aluminum buckle. As I was carrying it into the garage, I guess the buckle hit it and chipped it down to the original powder coat. So there's that. Don't get me wrong, plastidip is not indestructible. Not at all. I do like the lack of intense prep with it though. Just wipe it down with alcohol and your done. Now, if you wanted the textured look and something indestructible but permanent, get a can of spray bedliner paint.

Plastidip is like me......cheap and easy. :D

First the cannoli and now this. You're really plucking my nerves! If you post a pic of you eating a cannoli in your truck you'll push me over the edge!

Yooooo I didn't even think of bedliner! I actually love that idea, especially the texture! Well, maybe the texture. I'm not sure yet

This is what I recommend. I tried the Rustoleum brand and it doesn't look as smooth as this.

Now, with that said, this is not jet black so if that's what you want, pick up a can of spray automotive black enamel as a top coat. I think this matches the OEM fender flares pretty good though.

Ahh, the 4WD Action guys.. I started watching them about 4 years ago, they made me realize that I had stopped living my life and was just surviving it. AUS is definitely at the top of the bucket list for places to visit for a month.
