Hi folks, I recently installed a BedSlide in my 3rd gen using rivnuts. Five placed in all. I'm nervous about the strength of them with the composite bed material.

Are my concerns warranted? Should I be thinking about reinforcing bolts through steel or aluminum stock under the bed instead?

Just spoke to BedSlide customer service and they weren't worried in the least. Hope this helps anyone who stumbles on this thread.

How'd it go with the install? I just put mine in with the adapter brackets and it wasn't bad. Just curious.

rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
Crawl under there and look to see if the rivnuts upset on the far surface of the composite bed, or if the metal upset "in" the composite.

The latter case is no good in tension, and would indicate a reinforcing washer is required.

And yes, I do have an A&P credential in my wallet and have upset 1000s of rivnuts in composite materials. Never in a Taco bed however ;-)

Wanted to follow up albeit delayed. The BedSlide has held up great. I just checked the rivnuts this morning when pulling the slide out to sell it. No problems.

I would definitely recommend using plusnuts or larger rivnuts that have increased surface area once ‘squished’.
