On a 250 mile road trip from Louisiana to Texas my Tacoma went into limp mode with brake malfunction and CEL lights on right at the entrance of a Toyota dealer! Diagnosis is my pedal commander caused the issue and I need a throttle body assembly. They did get everything reset and driving normal but I didn't go for the new throttle body. Anybody have a similar experience and what was your solution? ....yes I know about Ovtune but haven't done that yet

Stay stock .. even with a ov tune you might run into issues . I did a tune on my old mustang and ended up having to replace the timing chain and had the vehicle reprogrammed by the dealer luckily the dealership replaced everything under warranty. Never again I stay away from all the aftermarket tunes ...commanders and so on . It’s not worth it .

How did the tune lead to timing chain failure?

Yes thanks, looking into KDMAX but my question is more about other's experience with the Pedal commander side effects and solutions

i'm curious how the pc managed to lead to a new throttle body. Did they do some testing or is it just a guess?

That thing is junk, just step on the skinny pedal faster, it does the same thing.

No clue ... all I know I lost power and engine started making a rattling noise . Shut it down right away and towed to dealer . Dealer diagnosed it caused by the tune . Improper tune for the engine my best guess . And it was legitimate tune by Bama. Luckily the dealership overlooked the tune and fixed it anyways .

The pedal commander did not cause this, the dealer just took the easy way out and you bought it.

No codes listed. Don't understand why I would need a throttle body assembly.IMG_20210430_225752003.jpg

Those fuckers! MIL on but no codes listed :annoyed:

Methinks it was a u-code (failure to communicate), based on the myriad of issues, abs, trans, ECU etc. After unplugging and clearing it probably went away.

Tech said he unplugged the PC, cleared codes but no throttle response with stock throttle then plugged PC back in and cycled ignition several times and it drives normal. PC is plugged in but not turned on. Will investigate in the morning if not raining here. Don't understand the need for a new throttle body....but all this modern stuff confounds me!

If it works with the PC plugged in, the problem isn't likely the throttle body. It would either work or not. All the PC does is tell the truck you're pressing the gas harder than you actually are.

I have 50k miles on OVTune no problems, there are others who have over 100k miles with their OVTune with no issues. Either way I don’t see how the throttle body would be damaged because of a pedal commander
