This was my temporary fix for having to chop the tension bolt yesterday to get my old alternator out. Heim bolt with a nut to adjust the tension. The only real problem is that the heim bolt doesn’t have a flat surface to bear against the bracket. I used a washer to avoid deforming the bracket when tightening the locking nut to clamp everything into place. I also installed a little nut and bolt right next to the alternator as a stop just in case the alternator tries to slip since I am not super confident in the clamping force with the heim nut.

Hopefully this will get me a few miles of driving until I can pick up the correct bolt at the dealer on Monday.

Ironically, this is one case where the factory specific part is actually less expensive than the hack job work around.

I like your input, thanks! Created a work around with a heim bolt. Should get me through the next couple days until the correct part arrives at my not so local dealer.

The old alternator was a cheaper after market one (That a previous owner installed) so I didn't bother inspecting it and attempting to rebuild it or fix it. I wanted to get a Denso in the truck since I have always had great success with them.
