Okay, just got into the taco to do an ice run and it started a little weak. I backed out of the drive and started up a the street, it acted like it wanted to stall like it didn't have enough power to make it up a small hill. WTF?! So I went back into my driveway and there was NO power in low RPM range and kinda acted as if it were only firing on a few cylinders. Now, the only thing that I've done recently is pull the MAF sensor to clean. I'm in the process of painting my rims black and is of course, not related.

 

No. But get this, it was on and disconnected the neg. battery terminal to reset the check engine light. Read about it on TW. Did it this morning just to test if it was the MAF sensor that had set it off in the first place.

 

When you reset the computer it can take a little bit for the computer to "relearn" itself and get air/fuel ratios etc dialed back in. It can be normal for some slightly rough running after resetting the CEL. But you're ignoring what could be a bigger issue. You should pull the codes that caused the CEL in the first place and fix the problem.

Of course the codes will tell the tale, however, a similar issue I've seen on Tacos is the firing module (whatever it's called) for the spark plug goes bad, thus running on less cylinders, jumpy, rough idle, etc.

 

Alright, now she runs fine. No sputter, loss of power, etc. I didn't realize the Taco was temperamental. I'll have to keep a close eye on 'er. On another note, looking forward to my new Billy 5100's. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Anyways, thanks!
