I don't know how you guys do it. Best I have ever seen is 17 mpg, even when stock. I don't drive crazy either...no jackrabbit starts, etc.

I go meet with Chris from San Antonio next Saturday the 8th. I feel like a kid before Christmas now! I have had a Pedal Commander so sort of know what to expect throttle wise but looking forward to the extras it brings. The week can't go by fast enough.

How many miles on your truck? I have seen that new engines on cars or trucks will see MPG improvements up to about 20,000 miles.

Well if I see a 3-4 mpg improvement I'll be pretty happy.

None, brand new. Looking for ideas
Just had my tune completed by @InternationalHarvester. Great guy, super friendly. The difference in throttle response is day and night. The pause I use to have when stepping on the peddle is gone. Instant response now between peddle and accelerating. Very happy. I’ll be heading to Las Vegas soon and towing a side by side for the 7 hour drive. Ill share my experience after.

3 week review for KDMAX 6.0 tune.

I have a 2017 M/T TRD OR. The only “performance” mod is a K&N drop in air filter with the HPS silicone intake tube. I also installed the URD short throw shifter last week. I got the premium tune because I ran premium full in my last vehicle and it ran amazingly and never had any issues. That is why I have used premium in the Taco ever since I bought it. Not necessarily a cause for my last vehicle running well, more correlation, but I still use premium.

Overall the tune brings the truck alive. The power band is smooth and consistent throughout with a little more noticeable grunt as well. The throttle response is a night and day difference. I am also getting much better gas mileage. I get a couple extra miles in the city, but hwy driving can see up 4 or 5 miles more per gallon.

Before getting the tune, the throttle response would be unpredictable on down shifts. Sometimes it felt like you had to jam the throttle to floor and hold it there just to get the RPMs to blimp up for a down shift. Its much better after the tune now. I sometimes still must hold the throttle down to get the RPMs to jump for downshifting, except now I do not have to press it down to WOT.

I have more issues with rev hang now that I have the short throw shifter, NOT due to the tune. I expected that problem to arise though. I know OVT mentioned something about finding the controls for rev hang and some other stuff in the M/T so hopefully that will make its way into a future update.

If you are thinking about getting the KDMAX 6.0, stop thinking and just do it. It is the best money you can spend on the truck.

Shoutout to @Alcatraz1015 for hooking me up and huge thanks to @PapaRee and @TWTaco for taking care of us all.

Common theme tonight, I also got tuned by Mike, @InternationalHarvester. I'll echo the above comments, great guy. Sorry I kept delaying the family bike ride! N. NV folks, hit up @InternationalHarvester!!
Mike took the time to talk me through the settings as well as his experiences and what I could expect. Also helped me make some decisions about which tune to go with.
Only have about 10 miles on it so nothing earth shattering in this post. Definitely smoother shifting through the gears and feels like a more "linear" power band. Not sure if thats a thing or not, but I think thats my best description thus far.
Kudos to @PapaRee and @TWTaco! First tune on the truck and I have not doubt you've set the bar HIGH! Just another reason to believe in this community and the passion of these folks! Thanks fellas!

Super cool conversations Jon. Glad you’re liking the tune. Please let me know if there’s anything else that we can do to keep you smiling. I think we’ll end up staying in touch regardless. Welcome to NV!!
