Is it not customary to give the take offs back to the customer? I had a lift installed and they brought me to a pile of shit behind their shop. My stuff wasn’t there. Everything there was old and under older stuff. Should I be as pissed as I am? Under 12k miles on them. I could have got 2-300 dollars for that. Just asking if this is normal practice or if I should blow them up with a shit review.
    Thanks in advance.

I would expect my factory parts to be returned. They are yours in the first place. Unless they took some money of the price of install to account for keeping your factory suspension.

    Far to much money spent.
You should absolutely expect to have your old parts in the bed.
You have the right to be pissed.

I would expect that anything that you took off my truck to be returned/given to me. No exceptions or excuses..... where are my old parts

They just called me after a few emails I sent. He said when they do the next 2019 or 2020 Tacoma suspension job they will call me and give me the parts. Still bullshit in my opinion. It should be a standard question. Do you want your shit back. I don’t want to be the guy that bitches because they do good work and now I’ll forever be the guy who bitched. But seriously that’s 300 dollars. I’m not rich. I spent over 3k there…..

You paid for both sets of parts, 1 set to be installed for xxx amount of dollars.... not xxxx amount plus the parts we replace the stuff you paid extra for with.
All the parts are yours, they are just swapping them out, they still belong to you.
Unless its in the fine print of their invoice..... "wegettokeepyourshit"

I don't know if it's always expected. For me it would depend on what it was. Suspension, yes...you can sell it for a few bucks. Old ball joints or worn out tie rods, junk 'em.

Im sure the majority of jobs they do the customer doesn't want the old parts so it may have been an honest mistake. Although it's sus that they couldn't locate them after you brought it up.

I would take them on their offer to give you the next set they come across.

These had less than 12k miles on them. Plenty of SR5 and Sport owners buy off-road takeoffs. It’s not something I replaced because it failed or needed replacing.

I agree that it’s sus. They were shiny new. The tech took them to sell them. 100%

    Hello,

I would be upset. Is this a straight up off road shop that only does mods or a dealer or repair shop that may have use for stock parts. Chances are they are sitting somewhere waiting to go on someone else’s vehicle if they do normal repairs.

Then they offer to give you some else’s shit. Basically they are stealing. They probably stole yours to give to someone else, now they will do the same to get yours back. They have no right to the parts. Even if they are broken. You can demand new OE or at minimum have them buy LKQ to match what you had.

No it’s not a side-of-the-road repair shop. They do a lot of overlanding work and are good at it. I think (now that the owner called) they are used to people who don’t give a fuck about reselling their old stuff because they come in there and drop 15k or more. Like AluCabs and fridges and Power Brakes and lifts all at once. He called and offered a replacement so that’s good enough for me. Most people probably can’t be bothered to resell their shit. I’m not rich (so I want my 300 dollar resell parts) but I go to places that do good work. I’ll take his effort to correct the situation as a sincere “sorry we fucked up and will fix it.” But I still think any shop that does suspensions should always give back the parts they remove. It just seems obvious and expected.

Sounds like you went to a legit shop. Regardless of price or how much you are paying, they should be asking what you want done with your old parts. You never know if someone decides they don’t like something and want to go back to stock.

    Glad it worked out.
