They supposedly follow the same rules as the forum but it's rarely enforced

@Kwikvette looking like my friend's gonna buy a 2nd gen Taco, he's checking it out now says it's the one. 2010 year, 4wd double cab no TRD, 130K miles. Looks super clean.

Couldn't think of anything to tell him to watch out for besides the normal car buying stuff and the frame issue. I know 05-06 had HG problems but just those years.

Told him to make sure the 4wd actuator works since it probably didn't get much use in socal

Check for the caved in motor mount, the 1gr motor mounts cave the frame in on some years

05-06 are fine if they had the TSB or recall (dunno what it actually was) but Toyota did give owners the chance to fix it I believe

Yup. I had a 70yr old employee who would always be bitching about how stupid people are now "because they always look stuff up on their goddamn phones and no one memorizes anything". I told him gone are the days of going to the bookshelf to flip through manuals when you have all of human history a knowledge in your pocket. He would just stare at me and call evreyone stupid again. He claimed to have a photographic memory and my wife had him look at the menu for 10mins at a company outing and she quized him after and he failed every question.

Did the rear brakes on my sisters tucson today. Stupid chineseium brake hardware that napa gives you with their pads was garbage. Had everything installed and went for a drive only to hear a rythmic scraping. Turns out the hardware wasnt bent right so it wouldnt stay clipped on the caliper which led to it scraping on the rotor. Put the old clips back in and was good to go.

    :annoyed:

The Oreillys hardware I got for my moms highlander wouldnt clip on either.

I'm getting conflicting info when I search - does anyone know if the reservoir from @Das it mang 's 2003 will fit my 1999? I am leaning towards yes but does anyone know for sure?

Have him check for signs of small rodents in the engine bay. They love to chew the knock sensor wires on the 4.0 and it is a bitch to fix.

Will do. Haven't heard back from him since I mentioned the 4wd actuator, hopefully they are striking up a deal if it all checked out.

The guy selling it restores classics, has a big biz and garage in LA, he definitely kept the Tacoma looking brand new from the pics I saw

    Requiring Windows 10 assistance;

    Issue - possible KernelBase.DLL file outdated/corrupt

Theory - copied file from identical setup on a properly running setup, to replace the outdated/corrupt file on another PC

Follow up issue - permissions, even though the user is set up as Owner with Administrator access, after looking into permissions for said Windows/System32, it is set as Read Only and the user account Owner cannot replace said file.

What I've done and need to do - I was able to enable the Administrator account via command prompt, that user was useless as it already had modified permissions to not allow any additional override like 'Owner'

I was able to find a hidden user that has full access called 'DefaultAccount'

I was able to remove any password (if applicable) via command prompt, and change Local Security Policy to force entry of username and password upon starting up the PC

Now, I was able to manually type in the username 'DefaultAccount' and all I get is a black screen, with an arrow I can move around.

I switch out, log on to the 'Owner' or 'Administrator' and everything is as it should be, but going back to 'DefaultAccount' gives me a black screen.

Is there something our old IT guy did that rendered said account as not-usable to prohibit unauthorized access, or is there truly an issue with the user?

I simply need Full Access to attempt to replace the KernelBase.dll file as there's no other way to do so.

Not a transferable file, needs to naturally update on the system it was created for. Kernel Base is a system file and tailored to the system it is on, even if the two boxes are identical this file will not be. Chances are your issue will be repaired by repairing the installation of windows and then updating it.
