I just installed a new Denso radiator along with the Corolla thermosat. I should have added that thermostat when I was doing the blower install because I had to remove my dynamic tensioner to change it. Anyway, it’s swapped over now and on my 30 minute highway drive last night my engine was running 174.2° with occasional bumps up to 176.0°. It never went above 176, and it was running 186 before with occasional jumps to 188-190. You could say I’m happy. Should have done this long ago

You used an OEM toyota part?
The aftermarket thermostats are junk compared to the Toyota quality.

I had two aftermarket stats fail.

Yup super happy with mine too.

Yes, I got the thermostat from the dealer. They’re important and cheap enough, no reason not to use OEM

Best of luck! I always want to see everyone not having issues with their SC's make it easier for me to want one haha.

I live around 5,800ft elevation and know it would make a big difference on the hills around here where the legal speed limit on I-15 is 80mph.

226 is running A BIT hot FYI

    aluminum heads DONT like heat!!!!

    I’m running at 170- 175,

You will feel a modest difference in power from 175 compared to 225 and heat soaking issues at 225 degrees

226 is definitely hot. If I remember right, the needle starts to move at 230.° I would try to figure out why it’s running so hot sooner than later

The highway grade out of Bishop on the 395 is about the same, 7% over 8 or 9 miles, couple thousand ft gain from the desert into the Sierra Foothills. That's the hottest I've seen my water temp get anyway.

There were some gnarly ones in Utah, don't remember the numbers though. That high elevation didn't help either

My only experience with overheating with this truck was before I owned an OBDII reader, saw the gauge start to climb offroad in 4lo. Turned out the e-fans the PO installed were hot garbage and couldn't properly keep temps in check when crawling at low speed. Ditched those for the stock fan clutch and never had that issue again.

I feel like my truck handles the hills way better at around 85mph. It stops hunting gears so much but it will get around 211° after pushing it. I had a 2001 extra cab with 3.4 manual and it felt great on hills at the same speed. I've never had a Super charger and this is my 4th Tacoma and I think I might finally be able to pull that SC trigger. I've only had this truck a few months and I'm trying to work out all the kinks first. I'm pretty excited about it.
I watch here and see Temps of 180° and I would love it. I'm usually running around 198° - 204°.

I recently started watching my auto Trans temps the the scan gauge but I don't know what the base line should be (there's probably a thread or 12 that I should read )

The auto trans will cause temps to go up quick. You have a trans cooler installed? I would definitely do that before the supercharger, these blowers don't have intercoolers like the newer Tacomas ones do, they get heat soaked quick

I've thought about getting the add on trans coolers. I'm also wondering if it would be a good idea to get a bigger better radiator. I also think about swapping in a manual. It a fast rabbit hole in every direction I look

I think trans cooler would be the way to go. I don't have an auto but it seems like everyone that's added one has benefited a great deal from it
