How long did you have to wait for your 2021 factory order?

It depends on your location with respect to the port. Mine arrived at the port of Newark on 4/5 and was delivered to my dealer in Wilkes Barre, PA on 4/15. It was still a couple days before I could take delivery due to transit damage and my dealer’s appointment-only operations. Typically they will wait until they have a full car-carrier heading to your dealer before discharging it from the VPC.

I had the permanent VIN when the truck arrived at the port and I downloaded the Toyota app and plugged in the VIN there. From my experience, I couldn’t see the truck’s location at this time, but the app would give me the odometer reading whenever someone started the truck. Another fella on this thread was able to see his truck’s location and even that one of the port drivers triggered a “harsh cornering” notification. But, again, I was unable to see these updates in real time.

 

Checked in with my dealer this week. I'm coming up on three months.

The news? Still no news. Ha. Ugh.

I've said it before, I don't care much if it's a two month wait or an eight month wait, it's the unknown that kills me.

 

Haven't posted in a few days, but there's good news! Got news yesterday from dealer that it has arrived at there lot and is ready for pick up tomorrow afternoon (can't wait!!!)
For those wondering and to add on to some previous comments, I got the permanent VIN after the truck arrived at Port in Canada (Toronto) on Monday I believe. Then it was transported to my dealer (30 min from dealer) on Wednesday. Since Monday I was able to track the odometer and fuel for the truck on the app.
Will definitely post some pics tomorrow! Fingers crossed things go smoothly.

Ordered/deposit in February.
2021 SR5, Access Cab, Long Bed, 4x4, Red w/assorted optional doo-dads and such.
Have had my VIN for about a week, supposed to take delivery 1st week of May.
Was interesting to check my VIN on the Toyota site and see that everything I ordered was either factory installed on it or was getting put on at the port.
Having the VIN also makes it easy to get the insurance quote.

It will get here when it gets here is how I am looking at it too... I think, like @DingleTower its the unknown that gets me... That and I am selling my car now, got an offer I couldn't refuse on it, and my beautiful new bride and I will be a 1 car couple until it arrives....

I think that I am just getting anxious after hearing about delays in port and after waiting since January...

 

I totally agree with you - it's that waiting for the e-mail or call from the dealer. This is my first new pickup since 1984 so waiting this long isn't so bad, but it will be pretty cool when it arrives... Be sure to post a photo when you get it!

Dealer said build date of May 31st

I punched in my Vin and it said order date of 4/21 but nothing on build date?

Is that normal? Or will it update once truck is built?

 

That seems pretty normal seeing that the truck doesn't have a permanent VIN. That build date seems pretty reasonable too seeing that my TRD Pro was delivered in just a bit over a month from deposit to delivery. Hope everything goes smoothly for you!

I put this deposit on a truck that was allocated to them and I jumped on it as pros in Massachusetts are scarce.

I hope is says build date soon to corroborate there story.

 

Well after reading some of the comments I am jealous. I placed my order toward the end of December and I am still waiting. I was told it should be here in the next 2 weeks and I will have a better answer by Wednesday of this week. It sucks how it went down but if your up for the read I will tell my story.

December when I placed my unicorn order as they called it I was the only one that has ordered mine the way I did. The sales manager said that he was going to try and get a BOSS order change done and place the order for what I wanted the same time. Well I was called a week later and was told that the BOSS order change was denied but they were still waiting on the order approval. A few weeks went by and I was told that the build was accepted and the would keep me in the loop. Every few weeks I would talk with my salesman and he would give me updates. Around the middle of April the one that we have been watching in the order portal was given a vin and I was told they would try to get it to the dealer before the end of the month. I was happy with that. So every few days I would get a call with updates on everything. Then last week I was told that it was delayed and it should be here on the 5th of May. A few hours later I got a call saying that the truck that we had tracked was not mine and there was a mix up. So I went down to the dealership which is when it got interesting.

Once at the dealer I noticed an AG DCLB and walked over to it. It was my exact build and I was confused. My salesman said that it came in and there was apparently a very heated discussion amongst a few people because he knew that the truck was mine. So I asked him where is my truck then and he said that another guy has been waiting since November. I told him that I didn't believe that because the manager said that no one has ordered one like I did when I ordered mine. So the manager tells me that the truck we were tracking was going to another guy and mine would be here in a few weeks. I asked him to clarify why I had to wait when I ordered it before anyone else.

So the manager tells me that he ordered 2 exactly how I wanted except one was in another color. I said ok, then give me mine. He then said that the BOSS order change that was denied actually was accepted the following after the orders were accepted. He said with a BOSS change my name was placed on that truck and if I did not end up taking possession of it then Toyota could deny them other trucks in the future. It is so that dealers don't do BOSS changes to get all of one trim in there area and it has to be changed for a reason. He told me that mine is still on its way. I told him I better see a PRO grille in the back seat when I pick mine up. So in the end I still am waiting on my unicorn.

On the price since everyone is saying something different here is mine. I talked down my price and my out the door price with no trade or money down is just a few hundred above MSRP. I tried to get the price dropped more because of everything but the manager told me that I wouldn't find a better deal. So I was going to try and play the whole dealer against dealer game but it will not work this time. I have contacted several dealers in my area and even through out the state. All the other dealers have quoted me MSRP +ttl, MSRP +dealer add-ons +ttl, MSRP +market adjustment +dealer add-ons +ttl and I even had several tell me that the MSRP was higher than when I built it on Toyota or what my dealer told me the MSRP was.

Here is the breakdown of the build I sent to each dealership:
- 2021 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Premium in Army Green
- Double cab with a 6 ft. bed (long bed)
- 3.5L V6 engine with 4wd
- TRD Premium Off-Road Package (Double Cab A/T) with options
- Advanced Technology Package
- LED Headlights and Fog Lights
- TRD Premium Off-Road Package (Double Cab A/T)

When I built the truck online the price came to be $43,960 plus $1,245 (Delivery, Processing & Handling Fee) for a total of $45,205. This is also the same MSRP that my dealer gave me. I even told them I was in contact with other dealers and wanted to know there out-the-door price. Some gave me a hard time about getting the out-the-door price and others gave it with a breakdown. With that said I was given prices anywhere from $48,500 +ttl all the way to the mid 50's out the door. So I think I did well and got mine out the door for under $46k before any rebates, money down or trade. If the $1k stays then it will be lower but I still have either the military or graduate rebate I can use.

 

One month. Got mine earl feb, order was placed early Jan. I actually have to re order again and start the entire process from scratch since I wanted to add premium package. I know it’s crazy wait time nowadays, I got lucky. But overall was a good choice to add premium package.

 

I did not read the whole thing but wow, $48. I walked out at $41 with pretty much same options you have. I have super white 2021 Tacoma

 

No, mine is $45,500 before any rebates, trades or money down. If the 1k stays then it will be $44,000 out the door before trade or money down.
