Swapped mine for an SR5 with black surround. Not a fan of the cheese grater look, and Pro looks nice, but wasn't worth the $$$ that could go towards other stuff, IMO.

 

Thats to help counter that Herbert the pervert chin on the 3rd Gen.

Toyota really missed the boat with their silly tech package upgrades. They should have been offering a choice of grills, could've made millions.

Pro grilles are like tattoos. Everyone has one now.

It's more rebellious to not have any ink...or keep your original grille on your Taco.

 

TIL getting a new or different grill is an act of rebellion akin to when tattoos had a stigma...

Only ~30% of Americans have a tattoo, FYI. The only people who use the analogy to say everyone has one now, and it's "more rebellious" not to have one only say that because they don't want one and want to feel special.

 

We all have the same truck, so we got a lot more in common than just a grille. The stuff that looks better gets popular.

 

Pro Grille but all black. It’s been said before we all have basically the same truck, but some get upset that many of us have the same grille? Makes no sense to me but to each their own. +

 

Pro grille made my SR look much less doofy, gave it an agressive look that I'm into.

If someone made a cooler looking one that wasn't some laser cut aluminum brojob covered in rivets, I'd be into it. But AFAIK, nobody does.

I have this one from TacoVinyl

 

I dipped the stock cheese grater grille black and painted the emblem orange about 3 years ago.
Just an experiment but it's holding up pretty well so I'm ok with it. I have another one that I may paint properly once I decide on colors.

 

I to have gone the Faux Pro look fro the SR5 grille. Though I'm starting to like the look with the SR black surround. Now I have a 2019 and the middle emblem is all one piece, the older ones look like the toyota logo can come off and be colour matched. Now does anyone know if I can just pick up the middle emblem? Would it work with my '19 grille?

 

If I were a Toyota dealer I would order a bunch of SRs, slap a Chinese pro grill on all of them and add a couple thousand to the price.

I like my pro grille. It is the better-looking option so that's why its popular. This question is kinda dumb its like saying why does everyone get Tacomas. Get something different like a Ranger. Its popular for a reason. But I guess thats what TW is for is to complain about other's choices
