We don’t have a trailer so it’s his trailer..

 

Hoping for a window between the rain that's predicted - porch has been dry for 2 days now. We'll see if the morning cooperates.

Put a drop of water on it.
If it soaks in it’s ready. If it stands for a bit it’s not.
But I’m sure you know that.

 

Lots of stain on the back porch - this will be the 5th or 6th time I've re-done it over the years. The front is composite so it really doesn't absorb moisture.

Hope you get your staining/painting done Mark. In our last house I used an electric paint sprayer to apply the clear sealer to the deck (too lazy to brush or roll) and it worked great. Hope Mother nature gives you a break and holds off on any bad weather.

Waiting for Jim to come and pick me up shortly, locked and loaded just in case I decide I decide I "NEED" one more of those guns, hope I can resist the urge!

 

I try to avoid gun shows - was a regular at the Allentown show for years. Now, I'm waiting for my random generated sequence number to come up at CMP to buy a 1911A1.

 

Some years back, my neighbor would go garage sale hunting. He had seen my E6B (flight slide rule) and that it was nifty, but not much need for one. He's at a garage sale and spots one. He got it for me. The lady selling stuff said it was Dad's, and she had stuff from his Flying Days in 1940, does he like that stuff? Yes Ma'am. She pulls out a box for him to rummage through, saying old airplane parts Dad had stored. Oilcloth. Two pristine disassembled Colts. He was a Detective and just asked, "how much?". He gave me the E6B and figured it was fate those Colts didn't end up in the wrong hands. He still has his Dad's M1.

Funny story about my neighbor. He remained in the AF Reserves and was out at Bergstrom AirBase. He was out there to work out and notice recent recruits getting ready for a March. He asked the commander if he could fall in? Commander looked at him, said we don't take civilians! So he whipped out his ID and said full gear in his vehicle. Full pack. So he dressed, got his gear, and joined a 20-mile march! He was working on a murder case and said that was the best way to focus. Just march and think. The Drill Sergeant kept yelling at his recruits, "if the Old Man can keep up, so can you. Move it!" He was deployed three times. Once in Bosnia and twice in Desert Storm. He did solve his case!

 

Thank your Neighbor for His Service. He probably has a lot of stories from his career as an AF reservist and a LEO.

 

Wishing you a quick sale to someone that needs a dependable daily driver. That person will be lucky to own a well cared for Tacoma. I have over 137K on my 09 with only 2 parts failing. Both rear hubs had to be replaced. One at 80K and the other at 120K. I see no need to purchase a new Tacoma. I do need to replace the shocks this summer and purchase a new set of all season tires in the fall. I run two wheel set up's now. The stock 15in for winter and a 17in for summer. One more season on the summer tires then I will replace them will all season's. I like the rims too much to only have them on the Tacoma in the summer.

I thought we had a trailer to take the riding mower to the shop if it needs repairs we cannot handle our selves.

Supposed to be calm and warm today. Firepit burn day I also have about 4 pallets that need to be burned or I might try to give them away. Have a great Sunday and remember only 1 more day till we can go shopping for items we need.

He had some great stories; most were mundane but he had some of those. "I know who he killed when he did it, but we can not find the body to prove it". He was like an elephant that never forgot and a bit of a rottweiler that wouldn't let go. He gained the respect of everyone he worked with and joined him in the march. He had searched a wooded, grassy area down near the river. Cadaver dogs alert to the whole area, challenged is some species of plants and runner roots. Those roots can carry the scent, so you know the area, but it could be acres. No signs of the grave. Was someone buried and moved or what? He would get into the heads of his suspects and all sorts of details—just friendly conversations with old friends.

Every summer, he would search that area by the river while keeping tabs on his suspect. He learned as a kid he was a fantastic swimmer, and friends recalled he could hold his breath for minutes. Longer than anyone else and seemed to disappear when at the river, showing up an hour later. Limestock rock along the river banks, small little pockets, and caves from into the rock. Once he understood why, with the commander's blessing, he had the reservist spend their weekend camped by the river while conducting searches in the water. AF practices water rescue, not too many in rivers, but for downed planes to incorporate that into weekend training. Searching for caves, ledges, and pockets along with the limestone. So many false pockets, but one went in and up into a nice small cave. They found the remains of the 14-year-old girl who had gone missing so many years early. Just as he suspected a single bullet in the head, it took my neighbor 20 years to get the cuffs on him. Never forget, never lose hope.

Sometimes it is the most mundane things that come to light. A College friend worked out in California. We still talk weekly, a close friend, but she wasn't the one for me! She would make a great detective, and she picks up on things. She had spotted a couple walking down the street and noticed the guy glancing into a panel van. She had that sixth sense of "something isn't right" but couldn't put her finger on it. She noticed the lady had a very odd way of dressing: Walmart clothing but high-end accessories (She managed a department store and noticed little things). Well, a month later, a van two blocks away had been stolen, and a young college woman was found murdered. I talked to my neighbor, told him this crazy story about her sixth sense. His ears perked up. She got in touch with the Homicide Detective. Her description, height, clothing, and details on the unique belt. There was an unconnected murder of an older wealthy woman who was killed during a burglary. The family didn't even realize clothing or accessories had been taken at the time, but the belt was unique, and they had a photo of Mom wearing it, but it wasn't in the house. No leads in the case, but those two went on a killing spree after that. Four random unsolved cases with no lead until someone remembered seeing that unique belt. You think it is DNA and forensics, but it's little things like that really solve the cases. Deep Thought. He just loved those 20-mile hikes to have time to think.
