New here... long time lurker trying to figure out what I wanted. Thanks to many who have contributed to the forum, it makes a difference.

I have been searching for about 5 years not only for a truck but also understanding pricing. I have been saving cash during the same time, as I wanted to pay cash. I don't believe in debt outside a home.

Anyhow- last week on FB Marketplace, literally a half mile away (never saw it before) was a mint truck that got listed.

4x4 was not a factor for me but I wanted a Prerunner 4 door cab, year not too terribly important and low miles. I think I ran across a unicorn.

The listing was for a 1 owner, white on tan SR5 Prerunner, 6 foot bed, stainless step rails, Enki wheels.

What makes it special - 18k miles. Always garaged and covered. Wiped down after every drive. NEVER Driven in the rain. The interior looks and smells new.

I can't say enough how mint this thing is. It is showroom ready. It won't be a daily driver.

The bed has never used, you can eat off the engine. All maintenance done.

Trying to decide what is next to do to it. My first guess and thought is new Alpine F series and do a factory tailgate camera.

    What would you do first?

We settled on $22750, glad I did it too as there were mountains of calls.

Nice truck... but have you even listened to the stereo? The difference between some expensive unit and what's in it may be so little that the real difference is in the weight of your wallet. One of the first things I ask when buying a used car is if the original equipment is intact, and if someone's replaced the stereo I take a quick pass. I've never seen aftermarket that was easy to use, and the real difference is in the speakers.

to me upgrading the head unit with something with more features like CarPlay is a huge difference maker. To me it is more then just playing music they handle so much more now, music, viewing cameras, maps, displaying vehicle information, hands free communication.

in terms of first things I would do, move off away from chrome to something else

FYI -I went into the diagnostic mode and reset the radio - it sounded absolutely horrible.

I have installed radios for many years. I am going to guess you have not cone across a quality system. What you are missing is why and how to create quality sound. You can take the worst speakers ever, and apply a lot of power with quality processing and it will sound great. The cheap Chinese junk units amp only produce about 1-2 watts of rms power (real music sound - not peak). Decent units like the Alpine head units have much more at 18 RMS.older units had 45 watts RMS per channel, however the new digital amps are more efficient.. Factory radios typically peak ar 4-5 max.

I do need a backup camera where i park as a key item.

I would like to start with the newer style grill with Toyota written on it to start. The wheels, lettering and side bars will be changed out but I am not sure when.

Question, can I swap the radio console area over to black? Is that a simple swap? I understand i need a kit for the radio, but I mean the clock and hazard switch.

Welcome to TW and that is a very nice find!

My son bought my wife's old 2006 CRV. Modern stereo, backup camera, and those nice features made it worth the upgrade.

I'd change every hose, belt, fluids. Every single one. Super low mileage but brake fluid absorbs moisture, rubber degrades. Hey, you have a driveline with grease fittings!

Rule #1, it's your truck so do with it what you please.

Looks like that tint could be darkened as well? Add an eyebrow strip?

My kids had to install a stereo in every car bought for them. Never seen one that lasts like original. I like stock. Great find.

One thing I have noticed - I have an older Jetta that has the dark wheels, trim (it is white too). I noticed other manufactures have started this trend more and more. My 2012 Audi had the same type of theme.. so what (as you all know) see the trend in the Tachomas as well. My guess this trend is almost running long now. I think the chrome for the most part stands out in the sea of black trim. The more I look at it, the more unique. My focus will be on OEM upgrades and minor additional lighting.

@spitdog I found the largest 4 leaf clover yesterday... you might be right!

Oh and to add - it is not available at Amazon but they have a decent page with feedback https://amzn.to/2PM6xCs

that is what the guy has been using on the Truck for some time. I can't believe how well it repels pollen and brake dust. Dirt just seems to fly off the truck when driving. AMAZING product
